Rise from your grave, Mythos photo

Mythos, the free-to-play MMO that never made it past a beta release while in the hands of the now-defunct Flagship Studios, has been commanded by Zeus to rise from the grave. Gamers apparently shouldn't be worried about the game being on hiatus any longer, according to Korean game company HanbitSoft.

A Mythos designer nicknamed "Alboos" says the team is "trying to keep the strengths that Mythos used to have, and strengthen them even more to make more suited as an online game." Uh, yeah. I think something might have been lost in translation there.

Actually, the full press release, which is beyond the jump, reads the exact same way. Anyway, Mythos is a mighty fun game that any fan of Diablo can easily get behind, so this news is good to hear.

HanbitSoft Opens Public Develop Status of MYTHOS

Seoul, Korea – May 7th, 2009 – HanbitSoft Inc. announced today that the company is revealing the development status of MYTHOS, a highly anticipated MMORPG developed by T3 Entertainment and Redbana US, through ‘Developers Note Page’ on the games Korean official website.

HanbitSoft launched ‘Developer’s Note Page’ in the Korean official website of MYTHOS on April 30th, and started to open public how the game is being developed. The company plans to introduce the world view, background story and class details of MYTHOS, starting with a letter from a developer in T3. The letter is written by a MYTHOS Designer with the nickname of ‘Alboos’. In the opening letter, Alboos mentioned that “MYTHOS is currently in a good condition where it’s being reconstructed. We are trying to keep the strengths that MYTHOS used to have, and strengthen them even more to make more suited as an online game.”

“MYTHOS is developed mainly by T3 and supported by Redbana. We are putting the development this way to embrace all kinds of systems that will work globally” said Yoora KIM. CMO of HanbitSoft, and added “many gamers have been worrying and wondering about MYTHOS, but they don’t have to worry now. We are doing our best to develop the game globally popular.”

MYTHOS is an online, action role-playing game that is set in the land of Uld – a fantasy world arising from the ashes of an epoch-long war of darkness. Players assume the roles of fantasy heroes as they explore, adventure, and quest through entirely randomized dungeons and environments. With an elegant point-and-click interface and an accessible isometric perspective, MYTHOS is poised to have near-universal appeal. The game allows thousands of players to interact within the same world while using mostly "instanced" dungeons to create unique gaming experiences suited for both solo and group-minded players.

The beta was somewhat fun, but with diablo 3 coming at some point it really doesn't have any real steam for me anymore now

Ah I liked that thing. I'm sure with Koreans in charge "even more to make more suited as an online game" translates roughly into "it will take you a week to gain a single level and any good drops will have a .0001% chance of appearing".

I love Diablo games, but their has never been one MMO. I've never played Mythos, but since it is similar to Diablo I may have to check out Mythos MMO.

They're maintaining the Korean version of Hellgate, aren't they? Must've been a buy-1-get-1 sale.
