You may recollect I was a bit of a sad panda over the supposed November release date for Rhythm Heaven DS, the English-language version of Rhythm Tengoku Gold (better known as the best rhythm game on the DS EVER). Thanks to a little bit of matlocking from Siliconera, it's looking like that date was ever so wrong: Nintendo says "the first half of 2009".

Amazon, Gamefly and Best Buy now list the game for release in the first week of April, which beats the everliving hell out of November. This is good news for gamers who weren't quite wooed enough by our import review to pick up the game, but were still interested in the English version. If you need something to tide you over in the meantime, I suggest you pick up the retrospective soundtrack, which is the best thing to happen to my iPod in months.

I hope it comes out in April. That would rule so hard. Until then I shall play the crap out of the gba version again. So good.

You don't have to play this with the touch screen on the left do you?

I mean, that book mode crap is painful enough but I physically could not do that stuff with my uncoordinated left half.

@DinnertimeNinja -- nah, the touch screen is on the right on the import. I'm not sure why it shows on the left up there.

I've actually had this on pre-order at Amazon for a few weeks now and they always had the release date set at April 5th(as far as my pre-order date is concerned). Still a 2 month wait, but at least we don't have to wait until November.

"Best rhythm game on the DS ever"

Somebody doesn't appreciate Elite Beat Agents like he should. Although, I suppose it's enough that there's some competition for that title on the DS. Says good things about the genre.

I've had this game on my radar, but that was the first video footage I've seen of it, and I am freaking excited! It'll be a game I actually probably play and not just collect! =D

Blasphemy! Ouendan 2 is the best rhythm game on the DS by far! >:(

Rhythm Tengoku Gold does have some really good stages but there are also a ton of crappy ones that end up frustrating to play.

LOL at lefty.

I really enjoyed it but I think it wasn't as good as the original, the remixes didn't appeal as much to me and the overall mini games weren't as creative or catchy.
