Rhapsody DS trailer: The Prince is in another castle?

     DS

I have never seen a copy of the original Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure in my life, and I probably never will. Believe it or not, I have a thing for musicals. Not so much the Fiddler on the Roof style fluff, but the good stuff like Little Shop of Horrors, The Rocky Horror Show and Return to the Forbidden Planet. Naturally, I find the concept of the musical videogame fascinating, and this is why the news of Rhapsody hitting the DS was so pleasing for me.

The only other musical videogame I can recall (discounting rhythm action games, of course) is The Nightmare Before Christmas: Oogie's Revenge, which had terrible gameplay, but fantastic musical boss battles, including some amazing reworkings of classic Nightmare songs.

Rhapsody looks utterly silly, but I am looking forward to it nonetheless. Hopefully this old RPG stands the test of time when it reemerges on Nintendo's handheld.

My roommate swears by this game and has had the port pre-ordered since I told her about it.

I was lucky enough to find an original copy of this at a thrift store near my college $7 last semester, the gameplay is fun and the soundtrack makes me lol. I'll probably just download it or something so I acn carry it around with me.

I never picked up the original, despite seeing it in literally every Gamestop's bargain bin about a year ago. Then it disappeared and I haven't seen a copy since. Is it really that rare?

I have it as well. :)
Pankcake attack FTW indeed.
Very odd game, but still good.

The game is hilarious but I got bored with it being too easy.

Jim, you got your definition of "fluff" wrong. Fluff in terms of fiction means just for entertainment, with little dramatic depth. That would mean Shop and Rocky Horror are more fluff than Fiddler (since it does deal with some dramatic themes).

Not that it's bad that they are. It's that that is what the word means. The context you used meant the proper word was "conventional", as Fiddler is conventional and the others are not.

As for the game, I wonder what X-Play would have to say about it, since it was their uber example for their segment "The Horror of Song".

Wow, Marjoly. Engrish, anyone?

I think they probably meant Marjorie, which is also the name of my grandmother's sister.

She was named Marjoly in the original release, so it stands to reason that she should STILL be named Marjoly.

I liked this game, but I felt kinda weird playing it because of the... uh, to put it lightly, the 'cutesy factor'.
