Rez on the PSP? Q Entertainment brought it up! photo

Hey, it wasn't me. Q Entertainment brought it up.

And yes, I'll take Rez classic on my PSP. Now would be great, thanks. Check out the following tweet from Q Entertainment:

Porting Rez HD to PS3 would be more work than you think. And for it to be playable on PSP, perhaps the original Rez might be more apropos?

Apropos? Maybe. Great? Yes. Do it. Are you asking? Or are you dropping hints? Maybe I'm reading too much into this.

I don't think anyone would turn this down, though a few things might be lost in translation.

So no Rez HD on the PS3, then?

Is it sad that I still have yet to play ANY version of Rez?

Seeing as how the original was ported to PS2, that may go against Sony's new anti-backwards compatibility philosophy. I'm surprised they haven't started offering PS2 games for download alongside PS1 titles. It can't seriously be that hard...can it? Regardless, I own Rez for PS2 (sadly though not Dreamcast), and the XBLA version as well. And currently I am PSP-less until I find some money to buy another one. But for anyone even remotely curious, I'd suggest you buy the original for PS2. And track down a trance vibrator if you can, which I have yet to do.

I didn't think this game was very good.

I am indifferent about its status on the PlayStation Portable.

I don't see this game working very well in a portable device... I have the XBLA version, and the use of the vibration really adds to the experience (one beat on the main controller, other beats on any other controller, just like the trance vibrator) and makes you "feel the music" in a different way (that was not an euphemism, you dirty people!)... it's the closest you can get to touching and seeing the music without consuming or burning some questionable vegetables.

Apart from the interesting use of rumble, this is a game that you really need to experience relaxed and with the volume cranked up, and none of those three things work well (or at all) on portables.

Without those, you get a pretty meh shooter with interesting visuals.

Personally, I'm suprised there isn't an iPhone version already. I reckon it could work rather well.

And one thing that confuses me, didn't they say they had Dreamcast emulation in the works for the PS3? Uhh... wasn't Rez a DC game?

Seriously? Don't make me buy this game a third (or forth) time. Because... yes, of course I want REZ on the go, damn it. Sigh. This game owns me.

I'm going to have to say no to this.

The appeal of REZ for me lies in the ability to work the whole synthenesia angle. The game cannot possibly achieve the same level of immersion on a portable.

Would it be a fun shooter for on the go gaming? Yeah, but I think it would lose a lot of the flavor that the game has on a larger console.

I'm going to throw this out there... Don't make REZ for the PSP. Convince people to buy the largest fucking TV they can get their hands on and enjoy the hell out of this game the way it's meant to be played, wasted out of your mind in a dark room.

How about you put it on PSN and make it so ps3 owners get an HD version while the psp owners get a psp version?

DAAALLEEEE

i got a question, will you review demon's souls or not?

you wrote an article saying you couldnt finish it in time, yet you didnt made it clear if you were going to review it later or not

if you wont review it, well its a shame i was lookin foward to Dtoids review

however if thats not the case, could you tell me when the review will be up?

with that out of the way, on topic, the original version would be nice, but i thought the HD version was a HUGE improvement over the original

Cute people still believe controller vibration make an experience. It doesn't, really. Slip on some headphones with a PSP version of REZ and you'd be just as well off.

Meh. I love Rez but realistically a PSP Rez doesn't sound nearly as exciting as a PS3 Rez or better yet just a flat out sequel.
