Note that one particular word, those of you complaining about how a game that's shorter than another could be better than one a few times longer in length to play through.
Jim had fun and the game was why. 6 hours of fun is still far better than 30 hours of mediocrity. Why? Because it's the more enjoyable experience compared to the one leaving you feeling "Is it close to the finish yet?"
I liked the demo, and agree with the points. Not getting the game, though, because money and I'm not really a fan of hacky/slashy types of games like this. But I think it's fun and put together well. A game that impresses me and isn't even one that appeals to my tastes, that says plenty good, for me.
Looks like a very fun game to me, probably gonna pick it up when the price drops.
There is a demo, if you like it, buy the game. If you don't like it, don't buy the game. If you like nitpicking on scorenumbers, comment away :).

That said, I always wanted to dive into some Warhammer but my goodness....a 25 year franchise with that much lore and craziness is scary. The game on PC is fantastic and this is a nice welcome. Great review DAWG.
I wonder if their next adventure will include those RTS/loot elements like in the PC game.
Great comments, guys.
Reviewers ARE biased. But that's not a bad thing. That's why you read lots of reviews to find one that suits you the best. Also, go fuck yourselves for being such whiny wankers.
After playing the demo I would pick this game up at a bargain price of around $30 as this game just didn't do anything to "suck me in" but it was fun.
People need to PLAY games for themselves and NOT base crap on scores. Nor should someone run out and buy a game if it gets 8,9,10/10! If everyone liked the most "popular stuff" then you would all be listening to Justin Bieber right now.
Quit being sheep and play some games for yourself!
Great review Jim !
I respect your reviews and review scores, I even explicitly agreed with the score you gave Dead Island. However, I thought that everyone was agreed in the fact that we should discourage games from having gimped singleplayer because it has "good" multiplayer. I mean, what happens when the servers go down? Or when you don't have internet? Or the game's just not that popular anymore and all the games are deserted?
I think multiplayer and singleplayer should be reviewed seperately. Because as far as I'm concerned, looking at it from a consumers point of view as someone who doesn't have a lot of disposable income, calling a 65 dollar 6-hour action game "great" sounds like a stretch of the imagination. Unless it's one HELL of a six hours (like Bulletstorm was), I fail to see how, when ignoring its multiplayer for the sake of all those who don't play multiplayer simply because of the prevalence of trash-talking dickweeds, this game stands up on its own, especially against the likes of games such as Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Fallout: New Vegas, Gears of War 3 (which will ensure that it PACKS its campaign with a lot of content and has extra arcadey modes to boot), Saints Row: The Third (even Saints Row 2), and so many other upcoming games. I'm not saying the score is "wrong" or arguing against it, but I am curious as to why anyone is going to say "there are too many short, brown and browner action games! they're generic!" and then turn around and praise one guilty of all those things.
Now the demo I played of this game gave me the impression it was just an awkwardly-controlled generic action game where your character is a pussy and dies too fast (with poorly placed checkpoints to boot), maybe the rest of the game is sunshine and roses and matches the insane fun of Bulletstorm (again, another short game that was just such a blast I didn't regret my purchase), but I'm going to wait for the bargain bin to see because the demo left a VERY bad taste in my mouth (like Bodycount).
A. I think you have that name to deter anyone in a smartphone from responding to u and
B. Thank you! Bunch of whiny bitches when there's no good reason to be one. A one point difference in a rating system thar most ppl agree is bullshit and not completely accurate to begin with means nothing.
Go stare at more furry porn or whatever it is u bottom feeders do instead of bitching please?
Can't imagine story mode holding my attention though. I've played the demo several times without finishing it. Usually around the ten minute mark, I've had my fill of mindless slaughter for that particular day.
I purchased Dead Island being a huge fan of Borderlands and promptly traded it in barely 24 hours later because I found the melee stab/kick/stomp combat incredibly boring and the lack of working co-op matchmaking unforgivable. I got this game with the credit and have loved it, having no experience with the warhammer universe before. This is a quality title, the combat mechanics are spot-on...it's by bar the most fluid (simplified) combination of gunplay/melee combat I've seen on current-gen systems (bayonetta was better) and the controls are tight and precise. The presentation is great, the music/sound effects are mood invoking, and the single player campaign is very fulfilling if ultimately too short (but it's the age-old problem of quality vs quantity). I can't comment on the multiplayer cause I'm too busy playing resistance 3/bc2/black ops but all in all it's easily competitive with a AAA title and I think these guys did a great job for a first time genre experimentation.
Totally different games bro. I know they have similar visual elements, but Gears is a paced cover-centric shooter. Space Marines, at least based on the demo, is a more chaotic action-thick experience.
And it's not like you're wrong to ask, but that's my line of thinking as someone who's buying Warhammer instead of Gears.
Glad to be one of the visitors on this awe inspiring web site : D.
Some really superb info , Sword lily I found this.
Relic somehow manages to f*** up every multiplayer they have made so far. And it makes me sad, ´cause this was a title I was really looking forward to.
