I'm sorry, but the more I hear from Team Meat, the more pretentious "hipster" indie neck beard attitude (see Indie Game: The Movie), the less I ever want to see from them.
Anyway, like I said before, if you think the game looks bad, then definitely don't play it. I'd just be sad if you thought the game looked fun, but that your feelings for the developers (people you presumably don't know in real life) kept you from trying it.
still love it though.
LOL, jes jackin.
A "Random" generator just sounds like lazy design."
That shows how little you know. Procedurally generating game behavior is a pretty serious undertaking. It's one thing to randomly spawn enemies on a screen but to generate a map on random? One that works? To make sure you don't have doorways that go nowhere. That doors with locks have corresponding keys. Etc. It would have been easier and less work to design static levels.
And really, $5 or $1, it's still pretty cheap. :)
My only complaint is that I have to watch the intro video after each time I rage-quit and jump back in immediately.
It's a GREAT game. I've spent 7 hours already and I can't stop playing.
Using my dollars to tell people what I do and do not support is letting the terrorists win? I thought that was the basis of capitalism. :P
It's true, I don't know either half of Team Meat.. and to be honest, from the way they portray themselves through the media, I don't really think I want to. As a result of their behavior and actions, I find myself not wanting to support them, regardless of the quality of their work.
And no, I don't think I'm causing any great consternation to either of them. I would be very surprised (like monkeys flying out of my butt surprised) if either half of Team Meat cared one tiny bit about my opinion. But it makes me feel better, and I'm not going to sit here and use Jim's favorite word and demand that everyone boycott them because they were dickholes about something. They have every right to express their opinions about things, and I have every right to make myself feel mildly better about not supporting pompous asshole developers.
Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go back to Gears 3; Cliffy needs a new Lamborghini.
Seriously do a LITTLE more research before being annoyed. The 1 death restart thing is balanced by two factors.
1. The game is intentionally short to be sort of arcade style. It would probably be possible to beat the game in under 15minutes if you did a perfect speed run.
2. The game is fairly kind when it comes to enemy health and damage. The main character Isaac starts with 3 hearts of health (and can increase the max amount during playthrough) and there is no attacks in the game that do more than 1 Full heart. So if you look at it from the view of a SHMUP it is pretty easy compared to titles like Ikaruga where 1 hit = death.
I never was really interested in the game, at all, regardless of Team Meat's involvement. Like I said, I enjoyed Super Meat Boy, but there wasn't that much that I felt for me to keep coming back to it.
@ flintmech:
I never proclaimed to have any sort of game development knowledge, but eh, I don't really care to. I'd rather have actual level design instead of what essentially looks to be the same room over and over. Yes, I know that it's a dungeon crawler, but I've seen plenty that have actual levels. If anybody wants to do random generation, or AI specific, I'd follow Valve's approach with Left for Dead 1 and 2, the game was able to feel different with the AI constantly changing up enemy locations. At least to me.
If you guys like the game fine, I won't be a bother about it.
I get so frustrated dying four levels down, but I found the final boss very easy. O.o

Hope someone gets some use out of these, both are perfect control setups for the game ^_^
NOTE: Make sure the controls for the game are default with "Lefty Flip" and "AZERTY" turned OFF in the options, otherwise these will not work.
Yeah I guess that takes the sting out of it a little bit. Thanks for the info.
@Eternal
Maybe you're the one who should do some research. Plenty of people in this comment thread are complaining about being frustrated by this game so I'd say my hesitation is completely justified. And for the record, I've been playing NES games my entire life, I just think that games made 20+ years later can aspire a little higher.
Also, I can tell some people who are complaining have not played the game long enough to really understand it. The game is not unbalanced. It is actually SURPRISINGLY balanced. Once you've played the game a few times it becomes much easier. I can't remember the last time I died playing the game. If anything, I wish they would have made it harder.
