Pokemon is one of those game I will always love and play till I get tired of it. And I am always returning.
Seriously, when I first heard that title, I thought it was some kind of late april fool or something.
I suppose it's because there's still a TON of DS owners and being that the 3DS is backwards compatible, it makes sense... but c'mon, Nintendo.. Bring it to 3DS and I might actually take a look at it..
@mathias
black 2 is the superior version
Not only does it have better mon, advance mode is better than easy mode to me anyway
theres already been 1 pokemon game on it, and the first pokemon rpg is coming this november which is being worked on by chunsoft
game freak takes its time with new generations
I never finished Black and White, but I liked its freshness compared to the older Pokemon games I played as a kid.
I think the most interesting part of the game is the fact that you are constantly introduced in the first playthrough to new Pokemon you don't know, which is perfect as a way to get you in the shoes of your character, who is new to training and should have to learn the ropes via experience. And having only played the first three generations (up to Emerald) extensively, getting some time in with Black and White 2 would be just what I'm looking for in a new Pokemon title.
And the fact that it's made to work on the regular DS is a good move by Nintendo and Gamefreak.
You're not in charge of the numbers they give. If you don't like their reviews, don't read them. Don't click on the ads, just go away. You have 20 of the comments on a 58 comment page. You are a third of the conversation that you are mostly having with yourself, and most people disagree with you. I would for once like to go to a review (usually a Nintendo one) page's comments and not see your damn avatar plastered all over the comment section.
As for the game itself, I always enjoy a good Pokemon game, and me and my boyfriend get them together so we can battle each other. I swear he lets me win.
did I say he should change the score?
Are you seriously telling me that everyone is suppose to agree with everything like robots and not say anything controdictory?
Liking the review, and not agreeing with the score are seperate manners.
I like dan, no issue with the review.
I would like for once, for people to stop trolling when they dont have a clue
Also, I just want to say that Stealth has every reason to question a review when he sees something that's not accounted for. While I really liked the review, it's missing a major feature of the game, which DOES come off as not finishing it. Thanks for clearing that up, by the way.
@Stealth: You're awesome, man. I honestly don't understand why people get on your case so much.
jealousness of my charisma, general good looks and massive nether region.........
lets go with that
But anyway they should totally make on for the wiiu. It would actually tempt me into buying one.
Writing like this is what's wrong with gaming 'journalism'. Back to Kotaku with you, Daniel.
Hey, I didn't see Daniel shouting at me for being a white male so I don't think he's quite ready for Kotaku.
Far more concerning though: Stealth being reasonable? What the hell is going on?
Haven't played a Pokemon game since G/S, and always wish I'd found the time. Now that I'm effectively unemployed (I work at a bar, ha!), I might give this one a spin.
you fucking nailed it. I think the younger set out there have an IDEA of what they think Nintendo should be, based on some imagined past that they didn't directly experience.
The truth is, Nintendo hasn't drastically changed anything fundamental about how they approach videogames in the past 27 years. They innovate and they will experiment, but overall they keep on making games that they deem fun and entertaining.
I also kind of miss the days when the legendary Pokemon weren't key plot points. I thought it was so much more exciting exploring Seafoam Islands, not knowing what was at the end of it, and just randomly finding Articuno sitting there waiting for you. I also think that Mewtwo had a bigger lasting appeal because all of the backstory of him was completely optional, which made it all the more creepy when you went through the effort of reading the diaries in the Pokemon Mansion. If you DIDN'T read the diaries, you'd just suddenly find Mewtwo at the end of Cerulean Cave and promptly get your butt kicked by him. They honestly build up the legendaries WAY too much now, and they don't have any shock value to them. Mewtwo didn't spoil the surprise by plastering his face on the cover. Also, (if you wanted to read too far into it) it also further amplifies his desire to stay away from humans by not being on the cover.
Not saying the new games are BAD, but they've lost a lot of the more subtle positive qualities Red/Gold had.
I was incredibly disappointed and ever since that moment, have been hoping for a Pokemon game to legitimately explore the idea.
The thing I liked about Nintendo back in its day was their ability to pull an exciting, fresh and incredible game out of thin air. From landmark original games that practically built genres to wildcard new IPs like Pikmin. Back when they were truly innovative, not churning out 2D marios annually and building consoles around finicky hardware gimmicks. All I have left for them is nostalgia, and damn if they aren't making good on that.
I actually like the fact that you bring a conversation to the table. I don't get how some people see your comments as trolling and "fanboy" rage. This articles comments would of been boring to read if you said nothing, so I applaud you.
For a sequel that adds so little (specially in the plot department), it's a pretty good score.

I saw he didnt address 4 MAJOR modes/gameplay addistions, and it made me wonder.
I am glad I asked, because he really didnt play them, and was expecting more multiplayer modes which there werent which was why the review was what it was
I am glad I asked
Just thought that was funny. No offense, Stealth.
Anyways, Stealth is wrong, because the reviewer doesn't have access to the entirety of Tournament mode. They're going to release new battles through the wireless, starting with the Official Tournament winners' in-game representatives and various double (maybe triple?) battles using past gym leaders.
Some of them are already in the game, but it'll take awhile to get through them, and if you've played the battle frontier/battle towers of the other games you've practically played it too.
