No, they're not. This game was made by TEAM NINJA, and the team making DmC is NINJA THEORY. Totally separate developers. It's quite a common mistake, though.
Nothing about this game was carefully thought out.
Instead of making gamers come to it, this game tries to sell itself to players.
I'm buying it for the DoA demo. I still have some hope for that!
Lucky me that I didn't bought this game last night. Choose Valkyria Chronicles 3 instead.
I want to ask, what about that blades of time review ?
That's the problem though, it's been way to long since he gave an update on the game. I dont understand why Devils third has had such a long development cycle.
I played the original Ninja Gaiden so damn much I beat it with Master Ninja rank on every level. I loved the difficulty, I loved the feeling of getting better at the game with time. So few games did that back in the early 2000s, and even fewer have done it now.
I am disappoint so may sequels and reboots of this generation didn't continue with the awesome ideas of last generation. SSX, Twisted Metal, GTA....they've all been dumbed down for prettier graphics.
@Jim: BTW, any progress with the Blades of Time review?, will we see that anytime soon?
No bro. You are thinking of Ninja Theory who did Heavenly Sword and Enslaved. The now headless Team Ninja is responsible for this abortion.
I hope Team Ninja can find their feet without Itagaki, but this is almost like expecting Kojima Productions to function without Kojima.
I am hoping to have it live tomorrow or Thursday.
@Review: This... This is sad. I'll probably bargain bin it still though. Is like to try online. Hopefully some folks try to be all ninja like and not douches. If anyone is online still that is.
I agree with Chris, Ninja Gaiden Black is so good that it still holds up today, it is one of the best games ever made, period, its balanced in so many ways, if you die its your fault, hell I got so good I beat the infamous Alma with no items on master ninja, the game rewards you greatly for being skilled. NG2 was more throw mountains of shit at the player and see what sticks but I ain't complaining.
I redboxed this and took it back within a few hours, its so bad, like Jim says, its just mountains of enemies coming at you, the combat is very dumbed down and simplistic and any damage you take is negated when you activate ninpo as it restores all your health, this is on top of your health fully regenerating at the end of every battle, a far cry from NG2 where the red portions of your health never healed. It has way to many QTE's, shitty ones to and its constantly repeating instructions at you.
What really blows my mind is the button to find your way through the stage, a don't get lost button IN A LINEAR FUCKING GAME.
Developers have GOT to stop treating their customers like functional retards.
There is no in between for NG3, its clear its meant for a wider audience except it treats them like idiots while at the same time flipping off anyone that loved that original titles.
As for the person asking for NG suggestions, Sigma 1 is basically black, Sigma 2 is terrible, its much easier than the original and the extra chapters with the other characters just aren't that enjoyable, play the 360 version.
Sigma+ is great. It's basically just Sigma, which is awesome if you've never played it. Any touchscreen stuff is fine; maybe not ideal, but fine.
I agree with Kyousuke Nanbu, NG3 is a blatant betrayal to EVERYONE that gave a fuck about the NG series in the first place. There was no consideration at all for the fans that loved and supported the first two games. It's as if this game was systematically made with the purpose to be BAD..as if Itagaki was hated that much by the top brass at Tecmo that they realy wantedto shit on everything that he did while head of Team Ninja.
If anything Jim Sterling gave this game too high a score. This game should be given a 2.. this game is pure SHIT!!
Ninja Gaiden is officially dead.
Granted haven't played NG3 yet, but from what I've heard and going from Metroid Other M and DOA: Dimensions, well. Sometimes assumptions turn out rather right.
... wait, what? O.O

That's as shocking as a Ninja Gaiden game not being one of the finest action games of the era of its release and as impressive as the game apparently is not!
Decent review, pretty much what I expected. For what its worth, QTE's can be turned off. NG3 sounds worse than Ninja Blade.
If you have never played a NG game, you might like it. It's not a 3 like IGN says. It's not even bad really.
If you are a NG fan who actually played on higher difficulties quite a bit, then you're going to feel a crushing sense of disappointment when it hits you that the quality of the series has substantially taken a dive.
Hopefully they take the criticism to heart and re-evaluate. I still want a NG4 someday. ... someday.
If you're really a Ninja Gaiden fan, ignore the comments, and any reviewer rattling on about how NG fans won't be happy with it. I don't know what game they're playing. This is still a Ninja Gaiden game, and I'm not regretting paying full pop so far.
Team Ninja needs to pull it's britches up. Sequels shouldn't have SIGNIFICANTLY less content than it's precursors. Games like this need to be disparaged and shunned straight into the bargain bin.
I'm legitimately scared for the future of the gaming industry. If this is what Team Ninja is trying to pass off as a complete game, I sure as fuck ain't going to buy DMC.
Thanks for saving me money Jimblob!
No this is Team Ninja, the DmC reboot is being handled by UK-based Ninja Theory (Heavenly Sword, Enslaved)
