I only got Skyrim because I traded in MW3 and picked it up for £2 from CEX, and I'm not going to get Amalur until it comes out again, same with Dragons Dogma. TBH, I didn't see Arkham City getting a re-release so soon, and if I did I would've waited. Buying single player games new is a mugs game. I didn't buy Fallout 3, or F:NV new and I saved about 60 quid total for it, and didn't miss out on shit. Your "*experience*" notion applies only to you/people that go to school. You think I stand around the pub or the office talking about the time I took on an Ancient and Blood dragon at once?
Fighters/online games are the exception, because if you're serious about the online element, then coming to the party late is effectively gimping yourself.
This is not a review of the business practices of the WB and NetheRealm. This is a review of Mortal Kombat: Komplete Edition, a game that is overpriced and undersized compared to what is offered by similar games on the market.
SSF4 and UMvC3 are meant to replace their predecessors entirely. MK Komplete is not meant to.
Also I've been seeing it for $40-$50, although I suppose it's been out for two months now in the Americas. So I guess I was better served by waiting for your belated review. ;)

You said that you have waited for Complete Editions because "there is simply no reason to buy a new game". You didn't say "based on my tastes and interests I have no personal reason to buy one". The former implies there there is no reason for ANYONE to buy one. That later strictly involves your own opinions (for whatever they're worth). Regardless of whether or not you failed to realize it, there is a difference.

You haven't been "trained" to do anything. You felt like doing something. And until you are the entire gaming industry, you mean jack shit. My point is that GOTY editions don't INHERENTLY make people wait across all games in all cases. Got it? Good.
@Jonathan Holmes
"It seems that a lot of you are arguing that it is a better that Mortal Kombat: Komplete Edition is a better game than SSF4 and UMvC3 because "It's just a GOTY edition so you don't have to buy it if you don't want to"."
Absolutely no one here is arguing that. You're completely misunderstanding what everyone is saying. MK Komplete Edition is a bundling of the original MK with bonus content that you've already been able to get separately as DLC. SSFIV and UMVC3 are not bundlings of SFIV and MVC3, respectively. They are new versions of the game with new content and changes you cannot get with the original games.
There are, in no way, shape, or form comparable products. At all. Whatsoever. As such, you shouldn't be comparing them. That's all anywhere here is arguing. No one is recommending that people who bought MK go out and buy this again. As is the case with all Complete/Gold Editions, the target audience is for people who missed the game the first time.
It's like comparing Persona 3 FES to Oblivion GOTY Edition. It's illogical and pointless. There's no merit to that comparison because they're two completely different products.

Excuse me, next time I will add "in my opinion" to every single line that I write, from which you are exempt. You provide "reasons" whereas I can merely provide "opinions". I need to "lrn2english" and you already "no2english". Sounds about right.
You responded to my first post, "I just gave you a handful of reasons why you should buy a new game if the value is there. Please read my posts before you respond to them. Thank you." The "reasons" you provided are, at best, subject to criticism. This criticism I provided in my last post, which you still ignored 90% of the content and focused on what you could easily dismiss to make yourself superior once more. What is value? How are we to judge what is valuable? There is so much subjectivity in any answer you could provide. The reasons you provide could justify why YOU decide to purchase a new game, but as I stated in my last post, if someone is concerned with limited funds, why would they purchase a game for full price? Now, should I make the leap and argue that ALL gamers have no reason to buy a full priced game when there is bound to be a complete edition? Well it can surely be argued that I cannot, as you suggest with your counter "reasons". However, you still get the same game with more content for less money. One reason you provided was value, but this same value can be had at a later date for less money. In most cases, more value is to be had as patches have been implemented, more content has been added, and such. You can argue that you get to play the game before other players, but this throws more aspects into your argument. One would have to purchase the game at release to avoid missing this "experience" you talk about, but at what point do you consider the trade off of getting the game first a worse deal than getting it for cheaper and with all the additional content added?
For the future, do not be one of those individuals who are so quick to dismiss others that you interpret other points in ways that favors your own argument. I find these people are far too quick to find reasons to disagree without considering the other person's points. We may all be truly less gifted than you, but you do not have to come off as such. Jonathan Holmes makes one simple comment that the "complete" edition phenomenon teaches gamers to hold out from buying recently released games, and wait for complete editions. He does not provide any quantifier and as such should be assumed to mean SOME gamers, not all. However, you felt it necessary to quickly dismiss his point. So, you just happened to assume that he meant ALL GAMERS IN ALL CASES, as evident in your comment , "My point is that GOTY editions don't INHERENTLY make people wait across all games in all cases. Got it? Good.". Holmes never said that all gamers in all cases did this. When you are training dogs, not every single dog is going to be equally trained. Some may be obedient, others may rebel. Obviously some people buy new games for $60 dollars, but eventually when the amount of content released afterwards can bring the total cost of the full experience to +$X amount, but just waiting for a few months or a year nets you all for a less amount, surely you cannot argue that it does not begin to condition gamers into waiting or holding out.
Did you even read the comments? We're not arguing that at all. We're saying that Mortal Kombat: Komplete Edition is a bundle pack, not an update like UMvC3 and SSF4. Our problem is that you're reviewing Mortal Kombat 9 again and docking points because it was the same game. No, you're not reviewing "Mortal Kombat: Komplete Edition". You're reviewing "Mortal Kombat" + the DLC at a cheaper price than if you bought them separately.
"This is not a review of the business practices of the WB and NetheRealm. This is a review of Mortal Kombat: Komplete Edition, a game that is overpriced and undersized compared to what is offered by similar games on the market."
So a game that is released with DLC bundled for the SOLE purpose of getting people who didn't buy it before to get it now is a overpriced and undersized if it adds no new content, even though that people who don't buy the game are missing out on literally nothing, unlike those who miss out on 10-12 characters for not buying UMvC3/SSF4?
Sheesh, I wouldn't expect someone like you to run on /v/ or GameFAQs logic. :\ Such a shame.
I have a simple question to your comment.
