Just got to Wily's Castle stage 2, and I have to say its been a BRILLIANT Wily Castle so far!
This is a review I can agree with (so far).
@ Tubatic- The music actually did grow on me. I was going to dedicate a paragraph to the subject, but it threw off the balance of the review.
In short, I think Strike Man's, Sheep Man's, Pump Man's, Nitro Man's,and Chill Man's themes work great in the stages they're written for. Blade Man's and Pump Man's themes are both OK, but are a little too bland at times. Commando Man's theme just leaves me totally cold.
And the music in the Wily Castle is fantastic from beginning to end.
Yeah, because retro games aren't really games, right? They're old-style, therefore they don't count.
Go screw yourself like you should have done a long time ago.
Or do you mean the actually fight against Wily? Yeah, I guess that could have been a lot better. Everything leading up to that was pretty awesome though.
@ vApathyv- Honestly, I'd go with MM10 over MM9 if your aren't that into Mega Man games. I prefer 9, but that's because I like my Mega Man games to lay it on as thick as possible. MM10 gives you more content, but isn't as intense as MM9.
Really though, is six of one and a half dozen of the other. I bet most people would say the two games are identical.
I have a bit of a love obsession with the Mega Man games (Played all the main/X/Zero/ZX games, beat all but MM4 and MM5) so I'll probably just get 'em both...guess I'll start with 9 first then. Thanks!
Where have you been for the last 2 generations? Before MM9, there really haven't been any good, new MM game for about 10 years. Though, I haven't played the Zero series, so I could be horribly wrong.
You really should. It's pretty much the best 'spinoff' series to come out from the series if you don't count X. I'd actually put the quality of the series on par with the first four X games. Amazing, and will definitely kick your ass without a second thought (Though the fourth one is considerably easier).

"Mega Man 2 and Mega Man 10 are both unafraid to kill the player."
Really? The first time I played Mega Man 2, I defeated all 8 Robot Masters easily. Although, I got the the final castle after that, and still haven't gotten past the third room, but I was honestly surprised how easily I gotten that far.
i still hoped for a LITTLE better story this time. It was a really nice idea, but the execution was lame. At least for me, though.
Also, it was really easy compared to 9! we finished mm10 in about 3.5 hours. mm10 took us at least twice as much, and we totally enjoyed it from start to finish, and not only after having played it several times.
Also, do you ever say positive things? I'm sorely disappointed that the mods (if there are any) allow douches like him to infect every story they post upon. I see the words "respect" and the phrase "don't be a troll" listed in the comment policy below. I also see the word "awesomer" and I can tell you with 100% dedication that Mr. Destructor does not embody that word.

And it didn't disappoint! I'm loving it! Almost more so than 9, believe it or not. Last night I destroyed the 8 Robot Masters and made my way past the first Wily Castle stage. So impressive! Thank you, Inafune and Capcom.
Yes, Solar Man's theme fucking rocks!
Why is Top Man in a giant greenhouse filled with giant vomiting robo-cats? Why is Shadow Man in giant lava filled sewer? Those are some of the things that irked me about Mega Man 3 when it first came out. Also, the last Wily fight was pretty weak.
Still a great game though. Without it, we wouldn't have Proto Man or Rush. That's a big deal.
@ Hohojirozame- I haven't played as Bass yet, and if I had, that wouldn't have effected my review. DLC is a separate product with a separate budget, and as, such, should get a separate review.
We'll probably do a write up on Mega Man 10's DLC as it's released. It looks awesome so far, doesn't it?
@ VGFreak1225- Really? The first time I played Mega Man 2, I got killed by Quick Man's instant kill lasers, knocked off the edge in Air Man's stage any number of types of enemies, hit the spikes in Bubble Man's stage, fell in the lava in Heat Man's stage while trying to figure out the block puzzles, the list goes on. Lots of instant death in that game.
Maybe you're just awesome?
@ Felipe- I hear what you're saying, but I'm not replaying MM10 because it's getting more fun the more I play it, not because I'm a Mega Man fan. I didn't replay MM4, MM6, or MM8 after I first beat them, because I didn't think they were that fun. I'd rank MM10 above those three games easily.
@ Birthmark- I haven't played much of Heavy Rain. That kind of stuff really isn't my thing.
If it makes you feel better though, I can tell you that I would have given Critter Crunch a 9-out-of-10. That game is completely awesome.
And the game is extremely easy. I beat it under 3 hours from download to finish, and that includes having to trial-and-error boss fights for probably close to an hour. The ability to buy items from the shop on continue in Wiley castle (was this in 9?) is too strong and made the end of the game a cakewalk. I'm going to try and legit beat this game with Protoman, so we'll see what I think after that's done.

I was just as surprised as you were. Again, I have yet to finish stage 3 of Wily's Castle, and I can't defeat anyone in MM9 other than Galaxy Man, so maybe I'm not as awesome as I seem. But feel free to keep telling me that. ;D
Also, I love that your name is Pacman.
@ The DirtyHobo- Yeah, Mega Man Zero 2 and 3 are incredible, right up there with the better games in the X series. It's sad that more people haven't played them.
ZX and ZX Advent are pretty good too.
Blade Man is an asshole.
I wasn't aware that Destructoid compared games to each other in their reviews. Who told you that lil' factoid?
