We could call it the new "nuke the fridge" or maybe the new "Greedo shoots first".
Never mind that almost every review at the time acknowledged that the game basically boils down to one long QTE: Telltale's spokespeople felt it was really important that there was some looking around and clicking on stuff, too.
The last Telltale game I bought was Back to the Future, and I regretted the purchase. For an adventure game built around solving puzzles, it had a remarkable lack of puzzles in it. JP seems to have taken about 20 steps back from that particular low point. Pretty sad, really.
....What?
I'm disappointed to hear this, since so far I've liked most of Telltales' games so far and the premise for the Jurassic Park game was interesting, so I was expecting at least something decent out of it. Maybe (hopefully) they'll give it another shot and learn from this experience to improve on the second one.
@wqerty: Telltale's Back To The Future is very very good in my opinion, and a nice addition to the film's universe.
JUST SO YOU KNOW THERE ACTUALLY WAS AN EPISODE OF HAPPY DAYS WHERE THEY REALLY DID JUMP A SHARK! AND IT WAS AWESOME!
GOTY 1996!
In all seriousness, most games based on movies suck, but there are lots of exceptions. As noted above, Goldeneye and some of the Spiderman games are good. A lot of Star Wars games are good. KotOR 1 and 2, Tie Fighter/X-Wing/Etc., the Jedi Knight games, etc. Dune 2 basically created the RTS genre, and I'm pretty sure it's considered connected to the movie. Aladdin and Lion King for Genesis/SNES were both pretty good.
Well, let's hope their Walking Dead or Fables stuff will pan out better. :-/
Aladdin - Genesis & SNES
Batman Returns - SNES
Jurassic Park - Genesis
The Chronicles of Riddick - (I forgot. Current Gen??)
Um, the storm never knocked out the power in the park. Nedry took out the power with his hack.
Kind of hard to take this review seriously when the author botches one of the major plot points of the source material right away.
I learned to button-mash to infinity.
Yes, button-mash does wonders.
The extras from the special ed are amusing, so I'm not too sad about it.
From what I've heard, the PS3 version is vastly inferior to PC with its super tiny icons. And by heard, I meant Foom complaining a lot during his stream.
Nedry never took out the power. He took out all things that were essential to create a diversion, like the fences, phones, the tour, etc.
In fact the power never actually goes out until Hammond orders Sam Jackson's character to reset their entire system, thus causing the breaker to fail which results in the awesome scene with the Raptor in the bunker.
Why, yes, I did know about that episode and it's "awesomeness" is debatable considering it spawned the term "jumping the shark".
Also, you might want to cut back on the caffiene, you seem a bit hyper.
I went in not expecting much but was pleasantly surprised.
I really enjoyed the story, characters, and found the QTEs to be quite tense especially the last level.
Personally I wish the graphics and what not would have been higher quality, but I was very happy with what I received.
However I can see why most people wouldn't like it. IMO only hardcore JP fans need apply or very big fans of dinosaurs. If you're neither then you probably won't enjoy it very much.
Also those aren't raptors on the roller coaster. Gotta look up the name.
