And again, remember that it's just his opinion and you're supposed to use his review to judge whether or not you'd like the game. Look at multiple reviews, be open-minded, ask yourself if the game sounds like something you'd want to play, and act or don't act depending on your answer. You don't ABSOLUTELY NEED someone to agree with you or validate your expectations (and if you think you do then that only speaks about how insecure you are with your own opinions). Remember that and you won't get so angry next time someone gives a bad review to a game you think is or will be good.
Oh and not everyone who disagrees with you is a troll.
- A feeling of uncontrollable anxiety when you think about or are exposed to numbers.
- The feeling that you must do everything possible to avoid numbers.
- Often, the knowledge that your fears are unreasonable or exaggerated but feeling powerless to control them.
Oh, shit! I got the Fear!
Plus he's fat.
After having tried both Bastion and From Dust and feeling exactly the same way you did from JUST the demo experience I have to say I'm probably going to try ITSP and feel the same way.. Kinda sad since I was really looking forward to this and From Dust.
"Why did you spend so much time complaining about the combat? It works well and there are tons of weapons and upgrades."
Well, I don't think one paragraph is "so much time", and while he was spending that time talking about it, I think he made it fairly clear that the combat was irritating and somewhat trivial due to the frequent health items, spawn points and lack of difficulty, that only seemed to be provided through the erratic speed and unpredictability of enemies and the UFO's inefficient arsenal of weaponry.
I mean, its all right in what he said, and that's his stance on it.
This is made doubly irritating by the fact that the enemies are almost always erratic in their movements and like to come at the player with sudden bursts of movement. Due to an overabundance of health items and frequent spawn points, no battle is really difficult -- but almost every one feels like an unwanted hassle due to the
mostly agree with Jim but 800pts for bastion ITSP and from dust it what they all should be...
Mrs Splosion man being a perfect example, they could be greedy and ask for 1200 but didnt so i snapped it up
calls it likes I plays it
I bought From dust, I was intrigued by the demo, but in the end it just makes me want a Black and White 3 for some reason
Im okay with a game that's short and sweet, but I just get meh vibes off this one.
Metacritic for a score, read a review for an opinion.
Come on Destructoid, get rid of this man as reviews editor. He just doesn't know what he's talking about.
In under 5 hours I beat the game with 99% map explored and 93% Campaign progress. It was fun and had some great ideas, but $15 and the frustrations with controls and combat bring it down.
And some of you need to make sure your safety helmets are properly secure more often.
Fuck you, Jim, Bastion was a masterpiece! You have the lowest score given to that game and it has an average of 88/100.
Come on, Destructoid, will you ever please let somebody else but Jim review the highly-anticipated games or at least get second opinions from another staff member? The TMZ effect he has on this site will wear off...once the 'shock journalism' is gone, then you will be left with a half-assed site if you don't start changing stuff now.
Now where's that Retro City Rampage.
