Why did you spend so much time complaining about the combat? It works well and there are tons of weapons and upgrades.
Regardless, I'm sure the next Dynasty Warriors game will be worthy of a vigorous 9/10.
i've read this "review" it's incredibly disturbing how someone can be so hypocritical.
"It's worth noting that the game is also very short, and can be easily completed in an afternoon with time to spare."
really? Killzone 3, 4-5 hour long(and those 5 hours is a STRETCH). Jim's score 10/10.
"I can't say I found anything truly compelling in the experience, due to the shallow nature of the experience and its languid pace[..] So much of the game feels simply like one is going through the motions rather than getting engrossed in the gameplay. Its lack of complexity, poor pacing, and tedious map design leads to a game that is solid overall, but undeniably tepid throughout."
Dynasty Warriors series says high Jim and i'm saying this as a fan of Koei titles.
"Sadly, great visuals do not a great game make. Nor does gameplay that spends most of its timing striving only for a passing grade."
again, Killzone 3 - 10/10
no, i'm just showing how Jim in his own reviews like to both hate and love the exact same thing. atleast he didn't write this time around that the game sucked cause he didn't know how to play it.
Isn't that what you smacked 'From Dust' for in your review?
Whatever... I'm finding reviews for D/L titles to be far, far less reliable than retail reviews.
i think d/l games oughta get a little leeway in the review process, since less time and money was (presumably) spent developing them, and the entry fee is much less than retail. they still need to be scrutinized and critiqued, but i could understand giving them a little more breathing room than a full-on $60 retail release.
Agreed. I also completely disagreed with the Bastion review. I thoroughly enjoyed Bastion and am getting ready to thoroughly enjoy it again on New Game+. Twice the grains of salt needed for reviews of D/L title, it seems. I'm gonna get hypertension, aren't I?
Sorry my psychic abilities aren't as well-honed as yours and that it is so difficult for me to know how a game is having never played it, rendering the opinions of those who have my only option to educate myself pre-purchase.
Show me your ways, oh wise one.
Srsly, though, Jim's reviews range from spot on with everyone else's to complete and utter jokes -- I think everyone knows that, but it doesn't make wanting to know about a game ahead of time any less of a challenge, you douche.
But yeah Jim, I'm getting weary of you DL reviews
reminds me to much of patapon to call it unique, its a sale wait.
If you watch the 33 minute clip from Conrads Saturday Morning Hangover where he talked to the devs while playing it, they mention they started the game in 2006. soooo, thats actually a lot longer than most retail games. Michel Gagne also mentions how he had to convince his wife to continue the project without any immediate income.
Sad to hear it didn't blow your mind like I was hoping, but I'm looking forward to giving it a go!
Ah, I see you enjoyed Bastion! Great great, but what about--
WHAT?! FROM DUST IS SPECIAL TOO, MAN! I THOUGHT I COULD TRUST YOU TO HAVE THE SAME OPINION AS ME, YOU KNOW, CAUSE YOU SAID YOU LIKED BASTION AND JIM DIDN'T BUT THEN YOU AGREED WITH HIM AND.....FUCK!
WELL I HOPE YOU LIKE INSANE TWISTED PLANETS THEN! PLEASE, JUST GIVE IT A CHANCE!!! IT'S AN INDIE!!!
I love reading the comments when Jim reviews anything. I'm surprised Jim doesn't appease the displeased and ratchet a game's review score up a point or two just to have fun.
Alright alright....here, I'll give it a 7/10. Maaaaybe a 7.5/10. Will that help you justify the $15 you were planning on spending on it or already have?
It's an arbitrary score on an arbitrary scale. Fuck!
I was interested in the game, and will still play the trial, but I can't see myself paying $15 for a game I can beat in an afternoon.
