Glad they fixed the melee and sniper like bad guys! I still need to beat the first one though...I also still hate his souther drawl like voice, why they could not keep the first actor baffles me.
My favourite part about the game is the mission customization and how it seamlessly melds in with my original campaign.
Well done, Sucker Punch. Now go help those guys make Thieves in Time.
@Epic-KxDtoid:
I don't see how you can compare them. They're pretty dissimilar games, aren't they? Enslaved is essentially a GoW clone, and inFamous 2 is sandbox/open-world game. I'll give you this - Enslaved had an awesome story, which I'm not anticipating insomuch from inFamous 2.
I downloaded the first Infamous as a part of Sony's Welcome Back program, and once I'm done with that I'll definitely be looking to play this as well.
Enslaved's platforming, although hellofalot more linear, is a lot more polished than inFamous 2.
The story is of course better than inFamous 2--hell every Sucker Punch game other than Sly 2.
Overworld goes to infamous 2, though. Even I get tired of generic reforestated apocalypse maps. Though I am a sucker for N'awlins inspired locales. One of the reasons why Left 4 Dead 2 is my favourite L4D has to do with N'awlins...
All in all, this is a great game. If you dislike the first, you'll probably dislike this one too. But if you loved the first, you'll really like this one too!
I agree on most of it except one part, the climbing thing :)
I think they have improved on it alot, from the get go it felt like i moved around much faster then in inFAMOUS 1.
It felt like when you stand right next to a lamp/electricpole and jump he doesnt face it and get "sucked" onto it(pole and sucked in same sentence?), instead you have to face it yourself and move onto it, i really liked that.
Same thing when dropping from buildings.
In the first game when you wanted to scale down from the sida of a building, you walked to the edge, pressed circle and he hung from the edge, press circle again and he grabbed the next ledge under him, repeat till you are down.
In this one, when you pressed circle he didnt grab anything until you youself steered him into to the house or whatever you where hangin from.
Add to that those electric booster poles on the side of the buildings wich made you get up alot quicker also.
Combine that with the the other skill you get that i dont wanna spoil and the lightningtether that you mentioned and it felt like i just flew threw the city. Getting from point A to point B really made you feel badass, jumping all around feeling like the damn HULK SON, GOT DAMN!
Anyway, nice read :D
I don't feel it's fair to compare those games.
Enslaved was good, but it was also really repetitive. The upgrades really didn't give you the sense of progression like InFamous 2, and the combat system wasn't really flexible. I enjoyed it, but only because I liked the simplicity.
Also, Enslaved was a technical mess. Framerate drops, pop-ins, glitches, sound issues all over the place. It had an amazing art style, and the levels were beautiful. But all in all, it's no clear winner of the two, since one is linear and the other is open world with different gameplay.
hmm as mentioned before the two are not in the same genre so its hard to make a comparison but this is how i would break it down
story- enslaved>inFamous
gameplay- inFamous>enslaved
gameplay>story
and the winner is inFamous
Although I couldnt experience the technical hiccups like others did (on occasion I did see a screwup with the vial injection animation) I will agree with the combat being repetitive. InFamous 1's combat was Waaaay more repetitive than Enslaved, but 2 fixed itself with that. So combat does goes to infamous 2.
@NubPhish
Gameplay>Story....
Wut?
Infamous 1 is one of my favorite games released this gen, and if 2 is as good an upgrade as you make it sound,I'm psyched..
The story is great, the characters are a lot more fleshed out, and the gameplay is awesome. Can't wait to do an evil karma playthrough and see how it all plays out!
I like what I hear here; sounds like its quirks are addressed, particularly melee and climbing. I felt that the flimsy bolts needed a mechanic overhaul too.
I'll look forward to this once I complete the first!
I love Enslaved but to say that it's more polished than Infamous 2 is crazy. From the 1st minute you play Enslaved, you could tell that it is unpolished and the controls were clunky. Where as inFAMOUS 2 is a much better polished experience. I also love that "Quick Change" of powers you can do on the fly with the press of left d-pad.
Everyone needs to play this. Forget those stupid console alliance. We all know you want to play this. :D
POTENTIAL SPOILER
The Beast's identiy didnt get enough focus and didnt do anything to make the evil choice any more desirable.
END SPOILER
The only other complaints I have are minor, there is a distinct lack of other villains in this game besides Bertrand and The Beast. In the original game there was basically a lead baddy to every section of Empire City, and most of those villains were genuinly entertaining. Bertrand in my opinion really doesnt carry that kind of weight.
Other than that, I sorta miss the RoboCop tier accuracy of the bad guys. It made you not play like a total idiot.
It does in a way. It reads your trophy information and changes parts of the game accordinly. You also get extra exp.
I think the original is around a 6 for me - 2 is sooooo much better.
1. Not getting rockets until more than halfway through the game
2. Lightning disappearing and coming back for only the final mission.
3. Sticky jumping and jumping onto things I don't want to.
4. Lots of glitches and sometimes real stupid AI.
5. Ice soldiers that swallow punches and thunder drops just b.c theyre in the animation to launch
These are all mostly minor and I must say I loved the story and the gameplay. I prefer the Hero ending but the Infamous powers are soooooooooooooo much cooler.
It looks as if Sucker Punch failed to address the three biggest problems with the original inFamous:
1. Poor capitalization in the title. That just makes the game industry look either illiterate or lazy.
2. Cole is still referred to as Cole rather than some persistent super hero name like Thunder Man, Bolting Brave, Electrocuticles, or even Colectricuter.
3. Cole still can't give shock therapy to the guys who cry out things like "I don't want to live anymore!" and "Why couldn't it have been meeeeeee!"
3 1/2. No raccoons or foxes of any variety, sapient or otherwise. No, Cole's new gal pals do not count as foxes in this regard.
Those are all prime reasons to pass on this one until it hits the bargain bin.
[If you took any of that seriously, you deserve a 2 out of 10.]
