I'll have to give it a shot just to see how much fun it is to be the little kid pulling the legs off of grasshoppers, metaphorically speaking.
I was looking forward to this game far too much to not even demo it still, but this is unfortunate.
If there was ever a level that seemed boring in the second half it turned out I wasn't using my time correctly - a lot of the levels require you to hit the ground running and start building right away. There's a fair amount of trial and error when approaching the levels which may turn some people off.
Honestly, this review made the game sound cool, and I was already interested in it. Jim just personally didn't have fun playing it for long stretches, and there's nothing wrong with that. Still very much looking forward to demo'ing it.
One specific person who generally shares my taste in games and is knowledgable about what makes games good and fun doesn't like it? I probably won't buy it then.
Makes sense...
I'm surprised he reviewed this game since this genre isn't something I would think jim has an affinity for. everything that jim mentioned was boring or uninspired sounds par for the course for the god game genre so it makes me look forward to the release even more.
IMO a game like this is along the same veins of Flower - its there for zen and the joy of building stuff. I wasn't expecting a large amount of depth along the same veins of Sim City but its surprising how you say its boring but then seem to praise Sim City, which shares the same style of "god game" involvement.
Anyways, sounds like a pretty great game to me. I'm interested in seeing what other reviewers say about this, hopefully some of them out there are pretty big enthusiasts for god game/building games so I could get a solid perspective that relates to my tastes :)
Though the bugs you mentioned about the Men pathfinding sounds annoying for the purposes of completing the campaign. I think I'd prefer to mess around and make a paradise, but obviously finishing the levels would be something I'd want to do as well.

I thought it was a full retail title too (and completely skipped over the MSRP). Hell, I'd almost be willing to pop $15 out on that. Jim - if you're reading - how many hours in before you got 'bored'?
I'm really quiet interested in this title and if I can get a few hours entertainment out of it... well, for $15 that's not really much worse then a movie ticket.
$5 seems trivial but it this were $10 instead of $15 that would make a big difference (for me anyways). The wait for a discount begins...
That way the amount of troll reviews in this site decrease a lot and anybody who believes his reviews follows him to his new site/blog/whatever he makes
No thanks Jim, another outrageous and shit review might get you more hits to the site, but you aren't fooling me.
I'll wait to try it myself before I would ever let you influence my opinion on anything.
Thanks for the review, Jim!
The Bastion review was way off the mark, in my opinion, so I'll likely still check this one out.

Didn't you already get fooled by coming to this site and giving them your hit just now? If you think that's the case... then why do you come here?
I say this as someone who suspects they wouldn't agree with this review and would find it above a 5.5. Just like I thought the Witcher 2 was leaps and bounds better then the score he gave it. It's just weird to me how personally people take this shit.
