How would you compare this one to General Knoxx? Did you even like that one?
Just looking for a baseline to better understand this score.
I mean, most people found Zombie Island to be kind of crappy, but at least it was more Borderlands. Any of that feeling in this one?
They actually have the Claptrap DLC listed as a MAIN project alongside their crappy Avatar: The Last Airbender iPhone offering. Good job handing development of an entire DLC pack to a company that hasn't developed before, Gearbox. Too lazy to do your own work anymore? Can't really blame DNF since DNF has three separate developers working on it concurrently (Gearbox, Piranha, and Triptych).
"Next to The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned (though Chuck won’t agree), this is the best Borderlands DLC yet, with delightfully unorthodox characters who have the same quirky appeal that Borderlands has become known for. Gearbox has even thrown in equally quirky item hunting expeditions, from claptrap statues to panties to oil cans. Dr. Tannis will send you fetching various claptrap items for her own scientific discoveries, as well. Though the content is short, Claptrap’s New Robot Revolution is perfect for a video game weekend getaway for that time you need some witty comic relief from your daily routine."
Its currently got 4.75 stars out of 5 on Xbox LIVE based on 300 reviews too...so it makes me wonder why Conrad is being such a negative nancy about it. I enjoyed it immensely.
Though, I do wish the patch came before this or with this.
To add my opinion/theory, I bet that if this came in place of Zombie Island, you would have liked it more. It is essentially the same as Zombie Island in terms of content; New missions, areas, enemies, etc., but no vehicles, new loot, and less missions compared to Knoxx. I agree on some areas though; yes it is the same old shit, and yes, the achievements aren't creative, but for the most part, it isn't enough to drag the game down to such a low point. I don't have time to write a long boring comment about my opinions, but I must say this to most of you guys;
Don't let one little stupid poorly written review as the whole truth. (No offense, Destructoid) Get it yourself, and decide it. I for one thought it was great because it was essentially more Borderlands, regardless of what one person or another might say.
Oh, and this whole review sounds a lot more like a fanatical rant by someone on gearbox forums, where you see that a lot. This review does not looks professional at all.
I was kinda interested, but Borderlands gets boring so quick. I'm considering not getting the sequel. I'm not a fan of the "collect better weapons" with a "window-dressing storyline" schema. I'm sure developers can make a game with loot collection and co-op while still having an above-average storyline to keep me interested. Of course, they won't realize this until some new blood comes around. By that time perhaps we'll be back at the point where complexity is king, and not have so much of this "accessibility" nonsense. One can dream.
