Modern Warfare I appreciated because it brought an "arcade-y" feel to the FPS genre, and brought about leveling/perks/experience, etc.
I'm surprised you havent gotten into BC2 then. It has an arcadey feel to it but has better aspects of teamwork than COD does, and it has more realistic bullets than Call of Duty's magic infinite path laser bullets.
I think people who doesn't love BC2'nam don't have souls. TRUTHED!
On a side note, anyone having issues with their stats reseting: just reboot the game, and they should load up fine.
Personally I'd give it an 8. A really great game, with a very different experience to BC2 Vanilla, but not without it's flaws.
- The amount of chokepoints is just ridiculous. There's exactly one stage in the whole frickin game that I would consider to be fun and balanced instead of a massive advantage for either the defenders or attackers.
E.G. the hill storming in Hill 137, That first stage between those rocks where you can't even see where you are going till they can see you, The defenders standing in a massive OPEN ricefield while the opposing team has a frickin chopper + tank and you have absolutely zilch.
- It seems to me that the destructability level is far lower in this one. The amount of walls that I have seen that I can't blow up is enormous.
- You can't see shit if you are running due to the massive overload of browns and greens + random fog everywhere which means that your only real option for long range battles is to sit still constantly. Which you can't, because you have to Rush the objective which gets us back to the chokepoint problem again.
- Weapon accuracy is downright ridiculous again. Firing AR's on full auto from one side to the other and still making kills does not make sense. Especially when these same AR's outclass submachine guns in CQC as well.
- Vehicles are either non-existent on most maps or can't go anywhere due to indestructable bamboo ( I kid you not), extremely low walls or tanks traps.
Again, when you have to storm the hill in Hill 137, you get a tank but aren't even allowed to go onto the hill, which means it's basically useless as your tank rounds are shot upwards.
I love playing engineer just to troll everyone with my rpg from all ranges, but you basically never need the guy. Which is probably why you never see any engineers.
Maybe it's infinitely better on conquest (I hated rush maps in normal BFBC2 as well, but even those were a lot better) but the amount of stupid design decisions on these maps just baffle me. I thought Battlefield was supposed to be the more tactical shooter, not the same run-n-gun chokepoint hell as CoD is.
A must buy for everyone who likes BC2 even a bit.
BF2 had experience points and weapon unlocks way before CoD.
Anyway, I have bought the expansion but have not gotten a chance to play it yet. Cannot wait though
@garethxxgod: I play a good bit of it and there is a mighty fair number of snipers around (on xbox anyway). The thing is, they usually can't hit anything if it moves, and it takes a headshot for a one hit kill. Basically, I get shot at by lots of snipers, but killed by very few. And most weapons in vanilla with a 4x scope can engage with a little burst fire and counter the bush campers easily. Or at least make em duck long enough to get in cover. Lots of people play sniper because the maps are big and you can get much longer distance shots than in most other current shooters. Its sorta nice because there are lots of people looking through their scopes oblivious to whats going on close by. Easy pickings. The game is really good if you like this sort of thing, I'd hate for the snipers to ruin it for you, cause they aren't very hard to deal with and aren't worse than in any other shooter I've played.
Yea, but I feel like the COD series perfected it.
I'll give it a chance sometime soon again. I didn't really like the session I played at my friend's house.
More close combat and less sniping madness make this game more interesting. Also the maps are well designed and although there is a few areas that have a cluster-fack, there is always a way around. Also the difficulty isn't that hard, so for new players it would be a much more enjoyable experience.
In my estimation this was the best pure MP shooter ever made. I look forward to the dlc.
As for the check points, the comments are totally correct. Once the defence is established, you can consider the game over.
The music is swell, but I didn't purchase the upgrade for the songs... Honestly? The original version of battlefield Vietnam was much better than this one sided version.
Play with a squad of guys that know what they are doing and you will never want to play another shooter ever again.
