Might rent it or buy it when it's discounted.
Eh, I would have.
...For 20 bucks. I think I'm gonna' take the same course of action this time around too.
Good review, Jim. Keep it up.
We always enjoy a good co-op game... totally worth the $$ for us.
review was good. you probably gave it more of a positive score then most people. i dont understand why you get so much flack from trolls.
@ChadPersonalTrainer
1) what are you doing here? 2) why do you think people care what you think? 3) be thankful the internet allows you to be such a douchebag. in some societies (past and present) you would be killed without mercy for being so disagreeable.
We have seen the two men touching each other during combat and be very close in general. so, In a game that does nothing differently, a little affection between them in the story would make it shine in a way.
P.S. I am not gay but I'm tired of the OMFG FAG! joke and to see mucho men shooting the hell of each other and try to prove that their digital balls eat the most pixels of your HDTV.
I bought the first one sometime AFTER laughing at the Penny Arcade 'fist bump' comic. It was the absurdity that put the game over the edge of 'maybe' to 'buy two copies used, play with brother'. It was joyfully stupid in the vein of 80s action movies, over the top violence incongruently mashed into frat boy antics, with a side of homosexual UST.
We ended up having a good time with the first one, worth the ~25 buck each price of admittance, but without the laughter, I just don't see it having the same entertainment value.
1) Coop drops way too often
2) The "pimp" option looks retarded in 40th day. My light machine gun in Ao2 had fucking ruby studded nails and diamond inlay for Chrits sake. But or some reason 40th Day decided that silver and gold is sufficient x.x
My rants aside, I still find the game enjoyable and a worthy purchase for fans of the first one.
So I took that attitude into this one and wasnt disappointed. Its just like the first, except you're fighting in a city that is collapsing around you...which is actually quite well done.
But yeah, if you want a bit of fun where all you have to do is point and shoot with a mate...its a good pick up.
Though to truely be worth it, wait till its in the bargin bin.
also: JIM STERLING IS THE BIG SEXY LEAVE HIM ALONE AND PUT AWAY THAT HATORADE!
On Topic, co-oping the first one with my good friend was a blast. Of course, it wasn't taken seriously and we laughed the whole the time. Maybe not something you want to drop $60 on, but when it drops in price it's probably worth playing with a friend.
Another note I think it's great that Mr.Sterling even allows comments on his game reviews. On top of that he'll occasionally respond to some comments which shows he's even reading what we say. Personally, I think that's pretty cool.
I have but one problem with this review, Jim. You covered the single player well and I understand what you got from the game....but as someone still on the fence with the game it seemed like you sort of flew right by the multi with a quick sentence.
I'm particularly curious over Extration, since it's the AoT version of Horde. Me and my wife played Horde endlessly, so Extraction could lengthen the replay for us...but with your review I can only assume it's not as well done as Gears.
Okay, not as well done...but is it done well at all? The review didn't really say.
Probably cause he's the Reviews Editor. I'm sure a lot of input comes from the other guys, but he makes the topic. Also, his rebellious style makes for a fun read.
The graphics are TERRIBLE; Salem and Rios look great but the environments look cheap and nasty with awful building animations when the side explodes. You can't skip the super annoying cutscenes, which means if you kick the bucket you have to sit through the whole thing again.
This is the first time I can remember being seriously angry at a game for being so shit after such a big build up. 7 is much too generous for this game. Save your money and wait for Splinter Cell.
That said, I liked Ass Creed 2 >.> too. There are so many things it does stupid wrong but its still one of the games Ive had the most fun with in the past few years. Still a renter though.
