It's very difficult to get someone with a predisposition towards ignoring certain types of games to garner any interest in them. That's how I am with XCOM. Everything about it tells my brain "this is not for you."
That's why I'm so amazed with this video from Rev3 Games. They managed to cut through the cold, icy walls of my XCOM-dismissing frontal lobe and made me feel something about this franchise. That's no easy trick, especially for an old jerk like me who's pretty set in his ways.
It doesn't hurt that I'm real life pals with Zac Minor, Tara Long, Anthony Carboni, and Max Scoville, but just because you like people doesn't mean you're going to like all their videos. In fact, I couldn't watch the Dtoid show for months after Max started hosting out of intense envy for his fantastic hair.
Personal feelings aside, I hope this isn't the last we see of this format from Rev3. It would be pretty rad to see Max running around the Rev3 offices in a Dishonored mask and hood, taking shots at George Anthony Carboni Washington.
Kinda reminded me of fire emblem, because of the character attachment. Also, I didn't even care about this game at all until I saw this vid. I'd buy it on a good sale someday.
I wasn't very interested in Xcom until I saw this. Seeing the gameplay in it made me interested, and now I have it pre-loaded on Steam. Plus the video is hilarious.
This week on Rhymedown Spectacular, Yahtzee turns his mind toward the wonderful world of limericks, while your ol' pal Jim Sterling tells a tale of a wandering cheese peddler.
As always, deep philosophical meaning and steamy commentary is hidden behind layers of beauty and elegance. You love every filthy second of it.

Hey everybody! We're back from E3, and boy are our arms tired. From playing video games, but also from making cartoonish flapping motions.
We ran down what came out of Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo's respective press conferences, as well as our personal favorites, and then listed off the Destructoid Best Of E3 winners. Now, we take naps.
Thief has been getting a lot of well-deserved buzz since its announcement, not the least of which surrounds its new Focus mechanic. Is it game-breaking, or harmlessly non-intrusive?
Well, I'm here to to tell you none of that...
