Sterling has a segment like this, except he appears to get how stupidly pointless it is yo try to draw parallels from specific examples in two completely different mediums.

It's like saying the song "smoke on the water" is the Silent Hill of music because they both have something mist-ish like in them. Except add a buch of flowery words and meaningless sincerity.

This is a problem I have with any form of art or any medium of entertainment, or anything really, especially literature. If you try hard enough, you can find anything, including symbolism, plot points, and themes. And if you try hard enough, you can find similarities in any two works.

Let's say I take a bush. Just a regular fucking bush. This bush is an intricate system of leaves and wood. It is an organic, living, almost self-reliant being. The leaves, however, cannot live without the trunk, and rely on it for water and food. The trunk cannot live without the solar energy gathered on the leaves, though it may last longer without the leaves than the leaves would without the trunk. The trunk in this case represents a Communistic dictatorship, giving the leaves, which represent citizens, the things they need. They control how much water, or resources, the leaves can get. The branches represent the police and other government officials, giving the resources directly to those who need it. The citizens, or leaves, do mostly all of the work, gathering the life-sustaining energy, which would represent manual labor and the collection of food and resources. It then gives these resources to the trunk, who then hoards the resources and give the leaves just enough to survive.

There, I just found Communism in a bush.

No. Please no, this wasn't really on TV was it? They could have talked about Shadow of the Colossus or Metal Gear Solid, and they choose fucking Metroid!?

The guy was just basically comparing their similarities....if anyone has actually played Metroid Prime here, you know that he wasn't that far off. It is also just his opinion though. People need to relax. o.o
