Abbey Games may not be a name you immediately recognize, but its god game Reus received some much-deserved attention. The studio has announced its new project, Renowned Explorers - International Society, a turn-based PC game starring a crew of explorers scouring the globe for treasure. Only the best of the best will do for the impending World Expo.

The game first revolves around assembling your crew, then determining where to explore at which point turn-based strategy becomes a factor. "There's a combat system to deal with unfriendly creatures, but there's also a new conversation system that's integrated with the combat too account for less aggressive encounters," according to the team.

Replayability is a major factor point of focus for Abbey and inspirations for Renowned Explorers include Jules Verne (always a favorite), Indiana Jones, XCOM: Enemy Unknown, and Fire Emblem. I'm also reminded of Atlantis: The Lost Empire, although the timelines vary.

Further information about Renowned Explorers is being rolled out via the game's website.
