Retrotastic: Vinyl soundtrack for Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection for grabs photo

Just in case the release of Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection isn't quite nostalgic enough for you, the publisher has announced that an incredibly limited run of vinyl soundtracks are now available through eBay. Yes, a proper record and everything!

The records are limited to a mere 3500, and the very first one is now available through eBay's Australian wing. All money made on the item will be going to the Cancer Council of Australia. Shipping is free and worldwide, just in case you thought you couldn't bid.

The soundtrack is pressed on blue vinyl and includes music from Space Harrier, Ristar, Vectorman, Golden Axe, Phantasy Star II and Vectorman II. Strangley, for an album titled Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection, there is no mention of any Sonic music.

Still, if you have more money than sense and want to help out a good cause, go place a bid.

The auction will run for seven days from today and will end at 6pm AEDST on 10th February 2009 with further details and money raised from the auction to be announced soon after.

To be fair, they don't use his name in the UK title. Also, wasn't vinyl long dead by the time, say, Vectorman came out? They should put the thing on an audiocassette, just to piss audio snobs off. (I guess we could just make our own Sega mixtapes, though.)

I'm looking forward to the ultimate collection but i think they should have included a cd with all the fantastic old school music with the game.

How of us retro gaming fans actually own a record player? I like old games, but that doesn't mean the rest of the things I own are retro...

Record players are making a come back for some trendy reason.

At any rate, I find it interesting to make a record with Sonic mentioned, but with no Sonic music.

Erm, maybe that's because album isn't called Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection?

This is fucking awesome! Shame the records are in such limited supply...and only in Australia...and attached to a compilation that was outsourced to a copy-paste emulation developer who doesn't take proper care of the source material...
