Most of you will have played the game that serves as tonight's topic of discussion many times over. You know its weapons, its levels, the ins and outs of how to take down its many formidable enemies and bosses. But the one thing you might not know about Super Metroid is perhaps also the most important thing you can know. And that is that Hamza sucks at it.
Armed with this knowledge, you may now enjoy any and all future replays of this game in a new light. That no matter how hard it might seem, Mister Aziz probably couldn't do any better. Now that you've been enlightened, I invite you to leave your questions for tonight's episode in the comments.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
What's your favorite suit from a design-perspective.
(Power, Varia, Gravity, Light, Dark, Phazon, Fusion, Zero Suit)
So I have to ask you, what did you expect from this game when your previous Metroid experience was Metroid 1 & 2? Did you expect it to be so epic?
And how do you prefer your Metroid to be? Sci-fi and floaty like the Metroid and Super Metroid, or fast paced and action-y like Metroid Zero Mission (the perfect sequel to Super Metroid)?
Favorite Ridley Fight?
Most useless power up?
Kinda off-topic, but your comment reminded me of the Alien series. The people behind it actually considered a male role for Ripely at one point. Man that would change things.
For me, it's the part with the ghost ship. The first part I got through on my own rental copy, but later on my cousin had played through the previous sections and I was playing on that part, fighting my way through it. When I got to the boss and beat him, I was changed. Never again would platforming and shooting be so perfect as this game. Something about the atmosphere of that whole section really did it for me. I mean the stuff later with the lava screw attack and that boss you can't defeat with weapons. Oh god, I love that game so much.
And everything else in that game. Bosses, missiles, and space pirates. Wall jumps. All of it. The first section with the boss battle.
Metroid Prime is bullshit.
Am I crazy, or has Samus Aran never hunted anyones bounty in game?
Did you electrocute the underwater boss?
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Oh my gosh, we HAVE to tell that story! Hahahaha! :) :) :)
And do any of you guys save the helper animals (the one that teach you to dash and walljump) in your post-Mother Brain escape (their in the room where you got the bombs/fought the Chazo statue). I compulsively have to rescue them, even if it means cutting it REALLY close (I've had to refight Mother Brain many a time because of this >.<) as I just feel to guilty if I don't >.<
I remember seeing the game for the very first time way back in 95' at a rental store and I ponder a while over the box art saying ; Mmmmmmm the first Metroid was pretty damn awesome I wonder if I'm gonna like this one. I then proceeded and rented Bugsy.... I was a stupid kid back then.
I finally played it through nearly 8 years after it's release... in 2002. So I'm gonna ask you guys the same question I've asked myself ; Which game do you regret not playing at the time of it's release and got to it many years after.
I say Super Metroid :3
and yes Dyson it's teh best GAMZ EVAR!!!
I always hated the name Super Metroid. What would you call it instead?
Why do we never see Samus doing any real bounty hunting?
What was your favorite boss?
What was your favorite power up?
Did you ever give your baby Metroid a name? I named it Ren.
Up until Metroid Prime, Nintendo barley released any Metroid games. Do you like having more Metroid games? Or did you like it only coming once in a blue moon?
Metroid has always seemed to be one of the more "darker" Nintendo franchises. Do you think that has contributed to it's popular.
Why did Samus dye her hair blonde?
Do you prefer Samus having little to no backstory? Or do you want to know more about her?
Did the baby Metroid change the way you viewed the alien life you had been killing?
I mean you couldn't proceed very far to the right without having that power-up.
(I suck at the 2D Metroid games on the NES and SNES.)
I'll be waiting for a "Best week ever!" proclamation from Chad...
Throughout the series, she's a mostly silent character, how much would dialogue in Metroid: Other M will make you look at her differently, if at all?
Also, as a person that adored Castlevania:SotN and the DS games that followed, should I chop off my thumbs for never playing Super Metroid (only one I've played was Prime 2)?
Did any retroforce members get to see Samus in her swimsuit? Have you got into any speed runs in any game?
But anyway... Yay Super Metroid! :D
1. What did you guys think about the Metroid music?
2. Has anyone ever completed metroid games 100%?
3. What did you guys think about the First Metroid game on nes, difficulty/Labyrinth design?
4. Metroid (NES) glitches?
5. New Metroid wii (team Ninja) thoughts and maybe related to super metroid.
Anyway, how hard was walljumping the first time you tried it in that long vertical shaft you had to walljump to get through?
QUESTIONS
Would you like to see a Zero Mission-type DS remake of Super Metroid? (I know a brand new 2-D one would be better, but still.)
Are you looking forward to Other M, especially the idea that it will bridge the gap between this and Fusion?
Ridley is unique in that while he's the most iconic boss in the series (and in the backstory, the most meaningful one in Samus's life), but he's not the final boss in any of the games. What do you all think of Ridley as a villain, and what, if anything, could make him more awesome? (Also, Ridley's theme is the best music in Brawl. This is a fact.)
Also, what was your reaction when you saw the corpses in the Metroid room ?
Doesn't Samus have the sexiest death animation ever?
What was the best boss fight?
What was the hardest skill to master?
How did you feel about the end of the game, the part where you can save the animals that helped you, and see them speeding off if you saved them in time?
And if you don't agree with that, I'll jab you in the gums with me screwdriver.
I was being an idiot...but I can always hope for another "Best Week Ever!", can't I?
WTF guys? WTF
Was this as seamless as perhaps other beloved Nintendo franchises like Mario or Zelda. And if not, if you had the opportunity how would you have crafted the follow-up to Super Metroid?
BABY METROIDS :D they are so cute. I want one.
Was this the first time there was fan-service in a game (or a Nintendo game)?
Also, what are all of your best times for beating the game?
1.Morph Ball with bombs or Space Jump without Screw Attack?
2.Ice Beam or Charge Beam?
Oh, and if you get to this question and there hasn't been any Screw Attack innuendo, I'm dissappointed in all of you
One more thing. Here's the Super Metroid OST.

best 2 weeks ever !
Also, I admit I had to rely in a YouTube walkthrough to clear this game. Its such a freaking maze, but its what makes them so hard but so good.
Q: Why do you think Metroid Fusion is so hated by the fans? it is more lineal but i found it to be a good spiritual succesor of Super Metroid.
--METROID FUSION SPOILER--
How did you feel when you found out they weren't really, thanks to that secret program?
Save for Ecco the Dolphin, I have trouble thinking of games that made me nervous to explore.
What area was your favorite in terms of atmosphere? Mine was "Wrecked Ship". I loved the fact it was so dilapidated and eerie. You could practically smell the rusting metal.
Loaded subject, friend... :D
I don't have a good question, but I have to say that the intro sequence to this game is one of the best in all of gaming. It sets the tone of the rest of the game perfectly!
