RetroforceGO! records episode 89 tonight: Punch-Out!! photo

Yes, it's early! And given the tone of the past couple of episodes, that might be a good thing. Perhaps recording earlier in the week will stave off our appetite for nonsense. Probably not, though. In any case, the full cast is back this week and we're ready to commemorate the release of Punch-Out!! for the Wii with an episode all about the franchise.

If you've ever listened to our show, you're well aware of Colette's deep-seeded hatred for Soda Popinski, Chad's penchant for punching elderly women in the face, and our collective overall love of beating the crap out of people on the whole. Taking these factors into account, I'd say we're probably looking at a pretty fun episode. And it's two days early! What more could you ask for? I mean, aside from bacon. Hit the comments with your questions and we'll get this one out to you in time for Wednesday.

Both games, I hate his guts.

Something I've noticed and wanted to see if you all agree. I've found that Super Punch out is more of a sequel to the arcade punch outs then the first Nes one. The power up bar instead of stars, no hearts, most of the boxers. All things from arcade punch out. I thought this made Super Punch Out far easier then regular punch out.

Also, Chad it was awesome to get to play punch out with you at the LA narp. Don Flamenco is still a chump.

So croissants fly out of Glass Joe when you slug him hard enough. . . I guess that's supposed to be some cheesy climactic effect. I know you guys can do better. In what epic way would a fight between each of you and Little Mac end?

This question has nothing to do with Punch Out, but has everything to do with PixelJam.

This weekend, I discovered a new PixelJam game over at Adult Swim. It's called Pizza City and it's awesome.

Just thought I'd let you know.

Also, my son has been watching old episodes of Captain N the last couple of weeks. It features King Hippo as a villain, so it's relevant. Have a great show!

If the Punch-Out!! series truly gets revived this time, and continues, what additions would you like to see made in future installments? Or should Punch-Out!! stay the way it is?

I think you shouldn't fix what isn't broken. Punch Out!! Wii a prime example, retaining the original controls.

Punch Out is a title that's skipped a couple of hardware generations. Any thoughts on why that might be?

Off topic but was wondering, tips or cheats?
To me a tip is a pointer on how to defeat a boss, while a cheat is some way of "breaking" the game (ie. konami code).

Also a question for Topher, dude did you get Raiden Fighter Aces for the 360 or have played it? If not its pretty fun and its only $20 for three games.

Did you ever notice that Super Macho Man's breasts and abs together kind of looked like a face? ...and when he would um, "flex" his boobies and move around, the face would kind of change expressions?!?!?

Also, off topic from Punch Out, I heard a few episodes ago Colette you mentioned that you and Niero have a multi-arcade cabinet. I also have been working on a mame cabinet, I've been working a long time on going through ALL the roms, and removing the crap, and now I have a nice collection and all the hardware. Now I'm about ready to put together the front-end, and I was wondering if you knew what front end you have running on your cabinet? Some programs I have been looking at are HyperSpin and Maximus Arcade (also MameWah but I don't think I like that one) I don't really need video previews for each game on the main menu, but it would be nice to have a screenshot of the title screen for each game as you scrolled through them.
Also what designs are on your cabinet's exterior? I still haven't decided on exterior artwork or marquees yet...
