You may have noticed that we missed our usual slot for a Retro Limbo episode last week in order to celebrate the pristine glory of the Street Fighter franchise. Let's pretend this week's show number is an even ten and we'll get on with our Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time episode.
Oh, and did I mention Dyson is back?
He is. He'll be joining us tonight for his illustrious return as we discuss Link's first 3D adventure, and the game that many people regard as the greatest thing to happen since the invention of the waffle. We'll also be announcing the winner of our Bionic Commando lunchbox contest, so that all adds up to make this week's show three times as awesome. Join us for that, and leave us your questions in the comments, eh?

Anyway, my question is: In Ocarina of Time, there were many girls that seemed to be interested in Link. Who does everyone think would be the best match for him?
Also, yay! First question I've ever asked!
(ps. What did you think of Master Quest? That game was hard as fuck...)
Dyson, Have there been any really good finds at the Good Will?
In your top 10 Zelda games, in which place is it ?
Do you think that the gameplay brought with this episode can be considered out of date ?
Why is this game so awesome ?(in your opinion)
Also yay Dyson is back (any love for Pizza Rolls still ?)
Please note that this is my first post and I'm a french listener.
Finding poe's soul does anyone actually like doing that.
Why do you think most people would agree that nintendo was able to perfectly transition zelda into 3d. How were they able to retain its zeldaness in your mind.
Did you honestly know what a ocarina was before you played this game because I didn't
This seemed strange to me, because I've never considered the Zelda games to be RPGs, but I guess some people do.
There's so many different styles of gameplay in OOT, but what genre do you think it fits into best? RPG, action/adventure, puzzle, fishing sim, equestrian fantasy, whale spelunker?
My little brother played it purely as a dress-up game, just changing Link's clothes over and over and chasing people around town.
Does the gameplay feels dated to you?
Am I a bad person?
But I think that the best think about this game was the story. I think that Nintendo reached the top of his storytelling techniques on this game. Is was a solid realm, full of different races, characters that makes you feel you are in a place in which everybody seems to care about the others.
No other Nintendo game has ever achieved (and I think will never do) the level of excelence of storytelling made in Ocarina of Time. Of course, I'm not comparing it with stories of games like Final fantasy or Lost Odyssey,. but as far as Nintendo goes, you just can't get a better story. And accesible to people that, like me, hate playing games with menu based battles.
Also, the game has one of the best directed cutscenes ever, using just the technology and polygons available at that time. the moment when Link leaves the forest and Saria gives him the Ocarina it's so awesome that even know I cry when I see it.
Playing Ocarina of time only gives you more reasons to see why Twilight Princess was a fun game, but a very awfuk Zelda, just like RE4 is a hell of a game, but an awful Resident Evil.
And my question :
What did you thinkg of that !/$"/$ water temple ? I remember that the first time I tried that temple I kept getting stuck in the middle of it. Then I found that door right under the block I was standing on... Leading me to the fact that I really hated that game... and had an unconditionnal love for it.
What was your relation with the game ?
[SPOILERS]
When young Link, ignoring all the other creatures' partying, goes back to the castle garden to find young Zelda. How she turns to face him, and the scene freezes to black & white
[/SPOILERS]
Would that be an expression of love... or what else?

2 Questions, ja? :D
What is your most hated enemy in OoT? Maybe those deaf screaming zombies?
Did you think that OoC started the trend to make the water temples the most difficult one for all later Zelda games?
greetings from germany
Did you ever own an actual ocarina? I bought one of those Zelda rip-off ocarinas from the ads in Nintendo Power. It was surprisingly easy to learn how to play, and sounded spot on to the game. Until I dropped it.
I had recently discovered that my parents were alcoholics thanks to learning what beer and wine were, and I remember being devastated to know that at age nine I was more intelligent than my parents at night. The Ocarina of Time was my escape from them, a place where I would be appreciated for saving Hyrule. It's a landmark video game for me, probably the game that made me realize that the things I was playing were more than elaborate toys.
My question is this:
Did any of you have similar experiences with other Zelda titles, and would you count them as the videogames that helped make you a gamer?
FUCK YEAH DYSON!
I don't have any questions today, just wanted to say I look forward to listening and keep up the great work!
All this compared with Mario 64, which I think is not a great 3D Mario game (compared to Super Mario Galxy, which I think is the first 3D Mario Game, and it's AMAZING. And don't get me started about Sonic.
My question is:
Who was your favourite non-main character?
Mine was the Happy Mask Salesman.
I just recently played through Majora's Mask and I thought that the developers had put a lot more feeling into it. The lives of the characters themselves seemed to take precedence over Link for the first time in the series. Did any of you play and enjoy Majora's Mask?
Also, do you name him Link or <Your Name>?
Is there a 2d version out yet? I can't find it.
Also, should Nintendo do the next Zelda in this graphical style? I love the way OoT looks.
Isn't Dyson great? I missed listening to him. :3
hotter in their past or future versions?
Also, what is your favorite dungeon?
mines is the graveyard one where you have to keep using the lens of truth to see al the invisible stuff
I can't remember why. But I always have named my Zelda characters that... :)
Nintedo said that Twilight Princess was going to be the last game made in the style of Ocarina of Time. Since making the transition from 3D to 4D is not an option, How do you imagine it will be the next major Zelda Game? A First Person Adventure, as Miyamoto wanted Ocarina of Time to be? A multiplayer game? A swordfighting rhythm game? DISCUSS!!!
For Topher:
For Colette:
For Stella:
For Chad:
For Dyson:
Could you guys bust out some singing and do your best interpretation of one of the ocarina songs from the game? If you had to create your own song, what would it be? I have a few suggestions:
Elegy of Pizza Rolls
Dirge of Dolphins
Mambo of Chocobos
Arpeggio of Ikaruga
Glissando of Quirky Rhythm Games That 5 People Have Ever Heard Of Outside of Japan
That was a stretch, I'll admit it.
DID ANYONE EVER FIND THAT F*CKING SINKING LURE?!
If yes, where did you find it? I don't think that damn thing existed. . . .
Here are some pictures of a deceased Oot2d:
Also, the music in Ocarina, awesome or fantastic?
I remember reading reviews of Twilight Princess seeing people write that it was the “best Zelda yet,” but after playing through TP, I still thought OOT was better. Even though TP added to the 3d gameplay of OOT, I still somehow find it more refreshing to play then TP. It may have been technically “better,” but it felt a little stale. So I guess my question is this, which do you prefer in games, an initial innovation or its refinement?
I bought it on the VC only to realize the game sucks with a gamecube controller
guess I'll never beat that damned game
We all know you like pizza rolls I was wondering if you like calzones.
What did the dolphin feel like?
Now my question:
What is is about this game that makes you guys think this game counts as retro limbo? Aside from the graphics and the time that the game was made, The Wind Waker and TP played exactly the same at their core mechanics (I know there are differences, I don't want to get into a flame war here). All three games are great but not much is different from their modern counterparts.
Is this game REALLY neo-retro or retro limbo? And if it is, could we argue TWW and TP are also retro limbo?
Let me give an example of what I mean. What concerned me the most was the way in which you would move in the 3rd dimension. For example, one of the things that really wracked my brain in "Super Mario 64" was how difficult it was to properly jump up to hit a block or jump on a Goomba, ridiculously easy tasks in 2D Mario games that I found very hard to do in 3D space. In OoT, jumping is easy because you essentially simply pick a direction, move forward, and the computer does the rest. Likewise, I think the slower pace of Zelda compared to Mario made it easier to just stop in the middle of a dungeon and look around the environment, simplifying what I saw as being a huge change from having everything observable to you in front of your face on the screen versus having to look around an environment and pray that you are standing in the right place and moving the camera in ther right way.
