It's almost Halloween, and that can only mean one thing -- a Kirby episode! Yes, that old staple of the season; you can't have Halloween without Kirby. You inhale tons of free candy, he inhales the essence of his foes, it all makes perfect sense. Because we planned this months ago, not realizing the actual week upon which Halloween fell. Yes sir. Certainly does.
Also joining us tonight will be Craineum: awesome dad and maker of fine Mega Man costumes and pumpkins alike, including the one you see pictured above. We'll be taking some time to chat about his boss-gate-worthy costume-making skills, Halloween, and raising two tiny gamers of one's own. And probably lots of other stuff that has nothing to do with any of the above, just because that's how we roll. Give us your spooky questions.

How did you introduce your child to games for the first time? I played my very first game when my Dad held me up to a Ms. Pacman machine (I was too little), and I haven't looked back since.

So yeah Kirby is my all time fav character, hes the first character I go to in any Smash game and I try to never overlook one of his games when it comes out.
OK question time, if you guys could invent a Kirby power that has never been in a Kirby game what power would it be.
You know one of the things I love most about kirby is his that his games aren't always the same thing, I mean I love the standard Kirby games, but it is soo easy to ft the little pink blob into anything. Be it a Pinball game, Block breaking game, mini golf, Racing and so on. He seems to be a great testing ground for new ideas.
Hell i love kirby soo much I'm tempted for when I get a Tattoo hes gonna be on it, in fact here is the design for my Tattoo does it get the retroforce stamp of approval.
But yeah I love Kirby, hes just so awesome. Oh yeah and btw Kirby Canvas Curse is the Best game ever for DS, soo much fun.

Long story short, what game do you think best showcases the Kirby series?
Chad, recently my family took a trip to Maui. We signed up for a snorkeling trip that took us to an area where Sea Turtles and Spinner Dolphins swim. I had brought along my digital camera in the hopes that I might get some good shots of the Spinner Dolphins playing. My results you can see blow.
As I was taking pictures, I was thinking, right then and there, I HAVE to post some of the better ones for Chad. While they are a little blurry due to the speed at which I needed to click them off, these two were the ones I thought you would most want to see. Here's the first:
This is an adult breaching out of the water. I caught him JUST as he popped up! The second one, while less interesting visually, is actually the one that I think you will like more due to context.
Fuzzy though it may be, this is a BABY Spinner Dolphin leaping into the air. It is only about three or so feet long and, as per their name, they shoot up into the air and rapidly spin their body 6 or so times like a dolphin drill bit.
There were actually two of them playing together, but with their speed, I was only able to capture the one. So Chad, there you go! Your Dolphin friends off the coasts of Maui and Lanai popped up to say hi to you via my pictures. Hope you like them! One of the reasons I took them was for you to see.
Oh yeah, love the show!
My personal favorite is the Chef. Seeing all of your enemies fly into a pot and turn into fruit is pretty hilarious.
Mine would have to be the wild west shootout from Kirby's Adventures.

And does anyone else love the music in the Kirby series? For a series about a cute little puffball, a lot of the music(especially the fully orchestrated stuff) is pretty epic (Fountain of Dreams and Marx Theme Brawl version, I'm looking at you).

I think I remember you saying something about this, so I thought you might be interested.
Anyway, my younger cousin is going trick or treating tomorrow and she wants me to go with her. But don't have a costume and if I go I really want to be waring one. Since this episode will come out on Halloween day, what costume could I make in an hour using ordinary household items?
I just went to Hawaii and did the same thing! Although my pictures haven't been developed yet, so I have no dolphin pics for Chad... yet.
Anyway, on to Kirby:
If you recall, Nintendo had announced a Kirby game for the GameCube that looked like it was in 3D but fell into obscurity. Iwata had mentioned in passing that the game had been moved to the Wii but still there has been very little information about the game. Do you think Kirby could even work as a 3D game? Could this be part of why we haven't seen much on this game? Will we ever see a console Kirby game again?!
When my friend and I played Battletoads for like 18 hours straight in grade 4, we ate blue raspberry life-savers all night... and now I can't think of one without the other!
What is your favourite Kirby costume? My favourite is the Mike costume, where Kirby screams as a director, an announcer and a death metal singer, complete with Cookie Monster GROOOOORRRR noise. First time that happened I laughed so much I nearly had an accident :)
On a general retro note, I keep seeing a 'rear projection television' warning notice in all the old instruction manuals. Just what is a rear projection television and did anyone actually have one? You could play Kirby and Metroid on a projector in the 80s? :O

I didn't realize it at the time, but that kid was not able to get through the fifth dungeon (where you get the blue tunic). A few years later he invited me over, and I helped him beat the dungeon.
Did any of y'all make costumes to dress as video game characters when you were kids? Did it work well or was it an epic failure?
