Unrelated question that I forgot to ask on the last episode

If you could take any game that has voice acting and replace it all with double dribble speak for fun, which game would you pick?

As you can probably tell, I am a big fan of Berzerk for the 2600. Gameplay is so-so, but there is something about the sound effects. I can still hear the sounds of "laser fire" and the death sounds after touching the wall...

Which games do you think had the most memorable sound effects on the 2600?



P.S. The box art for 2600 games was quite variable. I miss this old style (Yeah, Megaman 9 box art!)

Remember in Berzerk when you fire very close to a wall... It makes the most horrific sound ever made.

Unrelated. If I only have one fantasy dolphin game to buy for my DS this year, which should it be? The one with the extreme Z's, or the one with the bonsai dolphin in a fishbowl?

I know next to nothing about the 2600, however Angry Video Game Nerd filled me in on a few things so I'll have a go at talking about it.

First of all, you have to talk about Adventure! Apparently it's the first action adventure game ever and so without it, Legend of Zelda might never have been made. I can't imagine that world, it's so scary. Hold me, Chad!

Did you ever get to play any of the 'porn' games on the 2600? I think there's a General Custer one and even an x-rated Dr Seuss one. where your character can have his member bitten off by a crocodile.

Why do so many games have Space or -tron in the title?

Were you happy or disappointed with the licenced games? Spiderman, Indiana Jones, Superman and Ghostbusters look so complicated yet awful.

Did you play Friday the 13th? It looks so brutally funny, how many other games would you want to make your character die apart from Shadowgate (which has the most awesome death scenes)?

How neat is it that you can use Genesis pads in it?

Did any of you ever own the 5200? I saw that the trackball controller was bigger than a NES and I don't get exactly why it's meant to be an upgrade, the graphics look the same.

I just looked up some of the Atari accessories and I have to say that Starpath Supercharger is one of the best names for anything ever! It sounds so exciting!

Ok earlier there was a question about the first video game being space wars, which is kinda true although I think you'll find that tennis for two is officialy the very very first game and was played on a converted oscilloscope, in a lab, by men in white coats, maybe.

We had a 2600 back in the day and I recall playing some variation on breakout with four players on four paddles simultaneously (one paddle for each side of the screen with blocks in the middle). It was great fun as I recall. Do you guys know the name of this game by chance? We also had a four player version of pong which used the paddles. Also does anyone know what the first game designed to be a four simultaneous player game was? i.e. Gauntlet not pong adapted to be four player.

Have to say one of my earliest gaming memories was my younger brother clocking pitfall on our 2600 when he was only four years old. I gave up on that game after that.

Continuing with this four thing (I have know idea where this came from but four's the word of the day here!) I have a proper question for you. When did you start actually being critical of the games you were playing? By this I mean it's widely accepted today that ET is a bad game. Even in it's day I believe it was slated hence the cartridge dump in the dessert. The thing is, I never knew this at the time and wasn't exposed to other peoples opinions on the game until much much later. I played ET when I was a kid and although I could clock it at will (Oh yeah, I was that good!) I never thought of it as a terrible game, it was just a game and I ether wanted to play it or not.
