It seems that sex/sexuality in older games was either some type of degradation or it was only implied (i.e. the romantic elements of character backstories for couples like Mario and Peach or Link and Zelda are never really fleshed out). Were there any games that explored the gray area of sex/sexuality without being gratuitous or wholly implicit?

I love Darkstalkers so much because of all the overt sexuality on the part of Morrigan, Lillith, and Felicia.

Also, that anime cutscene in Granstream Saga on Playstation where you see the girl taking the shower needs a mention.

That game pisses me off.

It seems to me that in recent history naughty games are all but gone. But what I find very prevalent is the tease of naughty games from marketing. The biggest offender I can think of is Fear Effect 2: Retro Helix which was billed as lesbian sex extravaganza (sextravaganza?) and had one short scene of implication but nothing else. Obviously everything from movies to music is sold in this fashion, but do you guys have any thoughts on this in video games?

Is the lack of these games due to ESRB? Parent Groups? The continued notion that games are for kids? (Moving away from retro for a sec) As games mature (adult themes and story lines, not Gears of War ESRB mature) do you see more room for nudity in games with out a Mass Effect style fiasco?

Ok, I didn't want to have to tell this story, but this episode title is just way too appropriate. Everything i am about to say is completely true, no exaggerations whatsoever. It is an extreme example of how all things related to sex can improve your sex life if you use it the right way.
