RetroforceGO! episode 98: Super Metroid photo

Happy Friday, listeners! This week's episode is all about Super Metroid, and might also be the first time Chad and Dyson have discussed the topic together without arguing. Not a bad way to bring us toward the end of the season. Highlights include:

  • The ice cream cart returns
  • Sexy Poker ... yeah 
  • BEEEEEEEEES
  • The tale of Hamza sucking
  • Backtracking: lazy or anything but?
  • The origin of immersion
  • Speedruns!

As always, subscribe to us on iTunes to get the show early, or check it out over here. Only two episodes remain before we wrap up our second season, but contrary to what the bullies on the playground have been telling you, we're not going anywhere. 

We'll be taking a few weeks off after our 100th show, so you guys can catch up on any episodes you might have missed, and we can enjoy a little vacation. But we'll return before you know it, possibly with some new surprises. Oooh.

Also a hewj fan of the show...thanks for keepin' it real.

Last week, I went back and torrented the older shows, number 14 in particular, to get some more Metroid love. Glad Super Metroid is up this week.

To Anthony Burch: in relation to this week's New Gamer Dictionary...
"OCD (Obsessive Completion Distinction)"
Yes, I know that this definition of OCD is used in World of Goo, that's were I got the idea from.

"Intense frustration that then leads to insomnia....and possibly shame."
This is also related to me playing World of Goo.
No matter how many times I try I can't get the OCD flag for 'Ode to the Bridge Builder' in World 1.
I know what to do, but I'm always 1 or 2 goo balls short.
This elaboration doesn't quite fit this week's definition because for most people this OCD flag isn't hard to accomplish at all.

Is is me, or does Chad sound a little...sillier than usual? At least, in the beginning; I'm only a few minutes in, but it sounds like Chad got his ice cream with Spongebob at Goofy Goobers, a reference I'm probably way too old to make.

I'm only part of the way through, so maybe you discuss it later, but I'm pretty sure Ridley is male. He's named after Ridley Scott (Alien's director), not the main character from the movie (Ripley).

Actually, beating Super Metroid within 3 hours gets you the best ending, the same as the first two, if I'm not mistaken. Somebody said 2 hours, didn't they?
