Jordan Mechner was the Prince of Persia guy. He has a website up where he's been posting his old journals from when he was making Prince of Persia as a blog. In the blog, he details how he did motion capture to enhance the animation and even has videos of the original footage he shot and you can totally see the prince in the movements that the "actor" makes. -- http://jordanmechner.com/old-journals/
BTW, I *was* referring specifically to the carts that I owned that were ripoffs. Not really of Atari games, but arcade games. Space Invaders was reborn as Avenger and Pac Man was the Commodore symbol eating dots and chasing around flying robots.
P.S. It was so awesome to hear Hexadecimal Genome as the credits again!
Awesome stuff!
As a gamer who is eight years post-Commodore 64, I really don't mind this podcast. It's still interesting and entertaining to listen to the crew toss around the subject. Plus, Retroforce panders to gamers my age enough anyway.
I just recently started listening to the podcasts (for some odd reason) and was wondering what on earth that incredible 8-bit music is that plays at the end of every Retroforce episode? Where is it from?
As a final note, I am incredibly excited for the Earthbound episode. I expect the best episode ever.
I think I still have my TRS-80 buried in my parents basement somewhere....
A great episode, made even greater when I heard my name and question(s). I was so excited I had to put my pepsi down. :D
I had to replay it back to make sure I wasn't hearing things. It's not unusual for a man of my age and relationship status to squeal in ecstasy this late at night in front of his PC, but it was particularly loud this evening I assure you. I suspect my roommate will struggle to look me in the eye come tomorrow morning.
Yaaaaay!
So can I really have all your autographs (pleases)? If that's too much of a problem I'll happily accept a group hug or even a lock of hair! O_o
Whom should I converse with to make this old man happy?
PS. Looking forward to the Earthbound episode next week. By coincidence I started playing it myself recently as it has never graced our European shores as a younger gentleman. Looking forward to hearing Mr Dyson's thoughts on it especially.
early show isn't all bad :3
RFGO! likes to try and cover all gaming the best we can. Since the show has no set date to end, we have to come up with new and interesting topics every week. There are plenty of people that wanted a C64 episode, so we had one. There are plenty of people that want an Amiga episode, so will have one.
Show suggestions and autograph requests can go to retroforce@destructoid.com
See, it's like magic!
Also. Quick comment.
If the next episode is Earthbound related..please invite Aaron Linde
I have to mention, though, that RFGO without Chad is kinda weird......like Star Wars without Han Solo, or LOTR without Gandalf: there`s plenty to like, and its a whole lot of, in this case retro-informative, fun, but......well, ya know. That's two weeks now without a medicinal dose of Concelmo-laugh :(
So, what does everything think is the best C64 theme music? "The Last Ninja" (level 1), "M.U.L.E.", and "Skate or Die" are probably my three most memorable themes.
@brosef:
Oh, really? So, what's the threshold for "retro" if the Commodore 64 is too old for a RFGO episode? {roll eyes}
I sometimes play the C 64 games at GameTap... I wish they had the Dizzy series...
I kinda freaked out when you all talked about the old Infocom games, since I've been playing them for a few days!
That was hilarious.
