Happy Friday, listeners! This week, we talked about one of our favorite things in the whole world: Capcom. Capsule Computers (yup, that's what it's short for) made many of our favorite games ever, and this episode is a fapfest dedicated to them. Fapcom, you might say. Highlights:

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Thank you so much.
Capcom published the game in Japan.
Also,
lol
Aslo,
play Ninja Gaiden for the Master System, it's really awesome, seriously. I played after the NES ones and I it's my favorite! :D
Specially that there a early version of the game that says Ninja Gayden on the first chapter screen. xD

I don't think that particular Wonder Boy has actually been released before on Virtual Console. The whole Wonder Boy series is confusing as shit, due in no small part to Adventure Island spinning off from it and the crazy rights issue that let Hudson make its own versions of the games but with different characters since Sega owns the Wonder Boy name. I recommend checking out Virtual Console Reviews Archive, they really have their shit together on these things (not that you're not doing a good job, Chad :) .) Wikipedia would also be helpful.
Yeah, thanks. :)
I was a slacker this week on Virtual Console. I immediately saw the name and thought it had already been released.
After the show I realized it was a new one ... oops. I fail! :D
When Colette described this week's Wii Ware game I was picturing a gorilla with a Wii-mote.
I wonder if Donkey Kong is offensive to Gorillas.
Anyway, here's a Wikipedia article that explains better than I can: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2.5-D.
"The term is also used to describe 3D scenes built completely or partially from a composite of flat 2D images; and also where gameplay is restricted to a 2D plane while the display uses 3D graphics and 3D models."
Everyone's correct!
The article I linked mentions F-Zero and Out Run as two games that use the original definition. I believe the reason for the newer definition comes from the fact that there are very few instances where a device is not powerful enough to use a polygonal 3D engine anymore, and as a result, traditional sprite-based 3D "tricks" are no longer necessary.
So, I retract my original statement on the grounds that I was unaware that the term could be used in either fashion.
I'm a guy, by the way :)
Mega Man 9.
Mickey Mania too.
Sorry guys, you can make all the "LOL FAGS GO TO HELL" jokes and then puss out like Jhonathan Ross all you bloody well right but I expect some sort of accurcy to the main meat of the 'cast.
You don't have to listen if you don't like it. We all make mistakes. :)
And I don't think I was "pussing out." I just felt awful that I might have offended someone with my sarcastic comment. Seriously, don't listen if you aren't happy with our podcast.
I TOTALLY forgot Capcom made the Willow game and Chad I LOVED IT. It's the ONLY licensed non-Disney game I've enjoyed.
Jeez, why don't studios ask Capcom to make licensed games now?
That said, awesomely awesome episode because Capcom is the best video game company ever. Konami, Nintendo, Valve, Square, whatever; they all bow at the foot of the almighty Capcom.
"CAPCOM DESERVES FISTING. I WANNA FIST CAPCOM, I CAN DO IT"
Great episode.
