RetroforceGO! episode 56: Listener questions photo

These are our favorite episodes. You guys give us nonsensical questions, we answer them, things explode like a pinata and everyone wins. This week's show was to make up for our having missed our designated target last week, and I hope we made it up to you. How about some highlights?

  • Chad bleeds dolphins' blood
  • WTF is kick the can?
  • BRAID.
  • Anthony doesn't want to die
  • You have questions, we have answers
  • Mmm, cereal
  • Johnny Wong: Man of action
Enjoy the show, which can be found right here, and we'll catch you again next week. In the meantime, if you're going to be in the Baltimore area this weekend, you should stop by Otakon and say hello to Stella and me, as we will be there nerding it up for a few days.  Bring us a Slurpee?

You guys totally ninja'd the pre-recording post onto the main page yesterday. I swear I was refreshing every 15 minutes and didn't catch it until midnight.

Oh well, I guess I'll just have to wait to ask a few things until the next listener questions episode :(

Rev's rant is reminding me of this godawful cutscene/almost quick-time event part of Okami that I'm stuck on very early in the game where you have to make the tree bloom by drawing a ton of circles in a row successfully. It's the most irritating thing ever and makes me want to sell the game.

I have to say something to the retroforce go cast.
Right now, I'm living in the dorms of my local school, and NO ONE else is here, so I'm a lil' lonely and bored. So, I've gone back and listened to the old retroforce go episodes, and I just want to say thanks for keeping me company and helping me keep sane!

BTW, because of the shmups episode, I've found my new kick. Thanks Topher!

I know I hardly ever comment on the RFGO threads, but I can't tell you guys how much I love this show. It's really nice to hear from a cast with similar sensibilities to myself.

To answer your question that you posed at the end of the show Topher:

When I'm not fighting crime, I'm a mild-mannered punk rock drummer that I slowly learning the ways of metal drumming.

And as you know, I do the whole crime fighting thing at night all while saving cats and sometimes dogs stuck in trees

Does anyone remember a way back, when there was an attempt to make a FF6 radio drama? I'm sure there has been copycat versions since then that succeeded, as this project was never completed.

But if the RFG team was to do the same thing, what characters would you all want to be or who would you cast to be which characters?

(Just in case: No, I did not intend this question to be answered in Ep. 56, I know that's recorded already)

But no one ever reads these comments after the show is over so I won't expect anyone to reply to this... -_-;

Ever since I found the secret level warp in Super Mario Bros level 2 I’ve been a fan of retrogaming. This being either on a console or in an arcade- yes they still existed when I was a kid. Thusly I’ve always found retrogaming to be a thing of comfort and a way to relive good old memories.

I especially enjoy hearing people in the know discussing aforementioned types of games, because it’s always interesting hearing somebody speaking passionately about a thing they love. That’s the way I found RetroforceGo, because I wanted to hear about the good ol’ retrogames I grew up with in Denmark, were the dominate console/computer at the time was the Amiga 500, but still the love of old games transcends console exclusivity.

I’ve have really enjoyed the last 20 or so episodes of RetroforceGo. It’s a great podcast and one of the reasons is the friendship of all the participants and no one is in doubt that you all are dear friends, you all have your little shticks, Dolphins, Slurpees, Pizza rolls, yard sales and Chocobos, which is great. But a thing that bothers me, is the way the podcast sometime digresses into a circle-jerk of weird conversations where you try to top each other in strange “what-if’s” and reassuring each other in how great and amazing you all are. This steals a lot of focus from the real focus point which are the games. You all have such a huge knowledge and interesting opinions about retrogaming – so please put it to good use and let us hear about it in the podcast. I know this sounds really hate full and vile, but that’s really not my intention with this message. I’m just of the opinion that the podcast could use some more professionalism some times. I really don’t mind the personal anecdotes, stories and so on, I enjoy really do enjoy them, but so much of the content are weird conversations and high pitched, screeching laughter (Sorry Colette) and the last part really hurts my ears – even on a low volume. So here’s my one plead: Please adjust the EQ and filter out some of the really high pitched laughter noises out.

Hope I haven’t ruined your day, and please remember you have a huge fan in Denmark.

Keep up the great work.
