Another Monday is upon us, along with another one of Chad Concelmo's awesome MS Paint photos. The significance of these events leads to two conclusions.
One, it's time for an new RetroforceGO!
Two, Topher Cantler couldn't make it this week.
I know, I know. It's like having a happy
and sad panda at the same time, isn't it? Well, hopefully all the pandas in your world stay on the happy side of the fence. But if they don't, then allow me suggest giving them
some new RFGO! to cheer them up!

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Retroforce am Go!
Here's my gifts for this week's show:
Now I'm just kicking myself for leaving my iPod at a friends place last weekend. Oh alcohol why do you make me forget... wait... that's sort of a bonus sometimes I guess.
Great show, guys!
But still, what happened to the Goemon?
Hurray for Sweaters!
I believe it was a mike check.
*mic
I feel so sorry for you Chad. Hope you get your revenge.
In an unrelated note, YAY RETROFORCEGO!
Ah well. ^_^
Keep goin!
;)
"I am a long time listener to Retroforce Go! But now you've forced me to comment. Chad (I think it was you) said something to the effect of if anyone calls the Nintendo Entertainment system the the nes (pronounced ness) or the the Super Nintendo Entertainment System the SNES (pronounced sness) would would slap them. THe difference is syllables n. e. s is 3 three syllables compared to nes which is one. My point is that because the acronym has a verb, I will pronunce it like its a word. We all have a limited amount of sylables that will come from our mouths in our lifetime. I'm just conserving mine."
But apparently we have a billion words we can type in our lifetimes? Chad, slap the boy.
;)
At around the 49'20" mark, Chad begins to ask a question about games that have "quirks" but "we think it's bad game design but they might have done it on purpose."
I want to mention the game Killer7. I constantly sing praises about this game, but no one seems to care about it except a select few. This extremely underrated game is one of the closest examples of a commercial game that can be art. In it, the gameplay could easily be considered "retro." You are on rails the whole time, and shoot enemies in first person. It's an extremely simplistic gameplay but people didn't like it. Do you think it's an example of retro goggles? The frustrating thing about a game like this is BECAUSE it wasn't successful, it makes developers scared to take risks -- that's exactly what this game was, it was a risk.
And I think Capcom knew this -- it's probably why we'll never see another Grasshopper game published by Capcom again. They're much too caring about game sales and less about the games. It's why Clover got shut down, right? Well I'd love to hear your feelings on it. This was actually one of the best episodes you guys have ever had, btw. You introduced me to a lot of awesome neo-retro stuff, like Passage and Noitu Love 2. Thanks guys!
I'm an episode behind, but next time you hit Jefferson City MO we should go shop. The Goodwill here isn't any good, but I'm always looking for an excuse to go to Slackers.
This type of game must be sold in packs, not one bye one for U$5 each.
And we should totally write up a short press-release about Chad wearing his sweater and send it out to EVERYONE a week or so before E3 so that they'll know to keep an eye out for him. ;)
