So I missed the show yesterday. Have no fear, though, the show went on. Reverend Anthony jumped in to take the fourth place and Topher ran the task of hosting. How did things go? Well, we started doing the "what have you been playing" intro as if the show were Podtoid -- that's new. And there were a few extremely off color remarks that didn't make into the final edit, but I'm sure you'll be able to hear them in the future ... Maybe on a 50th episode, perhaps?
Anyway, since all I did was edit the show, I really don't have all the wonderful highlights that I normally do. But one thing I can tell you is that the show has some guest appearances by the legendary Sean Connery, hooray etc., and massive amounts of single entendre (we're too lowbrow for the double kind).
From what I can tell, everyone did an excellent job without me, regardless of some bucket action going on. Check out the show, and enjoy your week!
P.s. Chad is totally wrong about Landstalker, it's awesome :)

Dyson, if you're mixing it, consider adding a fadeout if the haiku is shorter than the music clip. The abrupt end doesn't do it justice.
I'm probably embarrassing Naia now.
Also, here's MY haiku for friday (imagine the music please)

Light Crusader is sort of a 2nd-rate Landstalker clone. I suppose it's an OK game, eh, it's just sorta like playing a mediocre Mario clone on the NES instead of just playing Mario 3 like a sane person.
Of course both of these games owe a debt to Solstice on the NES, and several games that originated that style on the European PCs well before Solstice.
But Landstalker stands to this day as the supreme isometric action/rpg/puzzler ever made. Soooo much love and care put into that game...

Plus, I'm trying to build up an army to charge into Treasure and beg for a sequel, and the more MM supporters, the bigger my army can be.

River City Ransom is awesome.
However I'm really surprised anyone considered it difficult. All you have to do is eat the right food and buy the right items, so you have to experiment a little. I've always considered the game too short and easy... image an Epic 20 hour River City Ransom... oh man...

Oh, and it doesn't really bother me, but I prefer the later part of my user name to be pronounced Kelj-ore. The way Chad keeps saying it makes it sound Italian or something (though I do love pasta). Loved the episode none the less.

This is for you Phantasy Star freaks (Dyson and Colette)
If you played Phantasy Star II you witness Parma/Palma get blown up and the Space Pirate Tyler saves you from your prison in Gaira. What the game doesn't explain is that the people of Parma/Palma knew they were in trouble and built a fleet of 400 ships to escape. Many of the ships landed on Motavia and Dezolis which is why so many Parmas/Palmas live on those planets in Phantasy Star IV. Dark Force, being a being that can take multiple forms in multiple places as you learn in PSIV sneaks onto the ships and wipes all but two of the remaining ships. Those ships, the Neo Palm and Alisa III are stuck wandering in space. The ship, Alisa III is the world of PSIII. The player doesn't discover any of this unless they travel to the town of New Mota at the end of the game, which is optional and learn about the connection.
tl;dr version: Some people from Parma/Palma escaped on ships before it got blown up in PSII. Phantasy Star III is the story of their descendants.
@Zero: you're not embarrassing me any more than you usually do in real life :P
@RFGo!: I'm going to go find Gunstar Heroes and start playing! Thanks for the suggestion!

Oy, now we need cute Asian pics? I had stored enough cute puppy pics in my harddrive to last me about 50 more episodes... Oh well...

Phantasy Star 3 does indeed connect with the rest of the games, it's just set up as a "mega plot twist", the entire game basically deceives you until the end.
Phantasy Star 3 may be the weakest of the 4 PS games, but it has a pretty rad ending, actually multiple endings depending on what choices you make during the game. One of the ending revelations directly ties into the classic Phantasy Star 2 ending. The concept and plot arch of PS3 is pretty amazing in retrospect, it just isn't carried off nearly as well as it should have been.

This was the best one I could find. And by best I mean non-pornographic.

Sharpless, Nai: Keep on keeping on with the puppy pics.
Brian K, Wild Whacker: Also keep on keeping on with the cutie Asian girl pics. Finally something for everyone!

Colette, if you do a show where you impersonate everybody, you'll have to manage the points where EVERYBODY talks at the same time. Maybe that can be mixed together post-recording...

OMG BONAR!

As far as Landstalker is concerned, I was not a big fan either but ALUNDRA for PS1 was its spiritual successor and it is an amazing puzzle/action/adventure game that rivals the likes of anything that comes out these days. Every retroforcego listener should really find that game and give it a good play through. Very thoughtful and challenging puzzles with a great anime themed 2D SNES sprite style. Wonderfully crafted story coupled with unique music that really sticks in your head. Fun characters and memorable bosses. Can't gush about it enough.

But hey, that's just me. I never played it on the 64 (I guess most haven't).
