Dyson
So does anyone know a good tax attorney? It's getting precariously close to the 15th of April, and lazy Dyson hasn't even bothered to total up his expenses for the year. You can claim Pizza Rolls as a business expense, right? I certainly hope so. Anyway, while I'm figuring out the answers to the math maze that is the 1040A tax form, allow me to give you guys what you really came here for: the latest episode of RetroforceGO!
Highlights!
- Dyson is a little bit tipsy today
- Skip ahead to the break to avoid TiQal
- Actually, just avoid TiQal
- Mega Man is a platformer, I thought?
- X-Ray specs, everyone's childhood folly
- That is a very nice panther you have
- FF: The Spirits Within sucked so hard :(
- Colette nails the point on the head!
- Extra special contest at the end
There you go, folks. Another week down, another show on the 'nets, another step closer to episode fifty and the inevitable battle at the volcano in Paraguay. Good gravy, life is good :)
Enjoy this week's show, my friends, and let us know what you think of it in the comments. Also, remember that next week is the Cancun episode. We'll be sitting beach side with froo froo drinks, so any suggestions will be welcomed.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Otherwise, great show as always!
I won't get any work done for the next hour.
(I'll listen to this tomorrow at work :D )
:D
On-Site Contra Marathon. No Konami Code. Or Topher.
Also, this is for Chad, which I have meant to email you about a while ago:

I HAVE TO PLAY THAT GAME!
but i loved them for it
I'd like to give a reasoning on how the emotional character connection disappeared as characters became more CG when they stepped away from sprites.
With sprites, it's more like reading a book. Your mind fills in the necessary details. It's much like the most emotional points in Lost Odyssey are in the storybook memories that are completely written.
With characters that are fully realized in 3D, something that becomes important is "acting." This is something that becomes necessary because with fully realized CG characters, there is no room left for the imagination. You don't have to invest anything of yourself in, everything is fed to you. So when the animation for the acting is subpar, the emotional connection is lost. This is partially because games are so reliant on mocap, (look at the amazing acting in a pixar film. that's ALL hand keyed). and partially because the conventions that work in sprites become cheesy in acting.
Parasite eve 2. Sucked.
Also, one of the guys in my department was one Squaresoft's cinematic team and worked on Parasite eve 1 and FFVII.
You mentioned Vagrant Story, thank you so much. I love VS so much. It's weird, I hate most RPGs and dungeon crawlers, but something about VS made me play through it 3 times... IN A ROW.
And one last thing...
I looked into it and the red label of Final Fantasy X says Square Enix and the black Label says Square Soft.
1. Cheap Beer in cans or forties only. 12 oz. bottles are for pussies.
2. Frozen Pizza. (Though the Manwich idea is amazing).
3. Movies for guys who like movies.
4. Classified.
Suggestions from the vaults, should you throw another one (these have been the favorites so far):
RoboCop, Master of the Flying Guillotine, Last Boyscout, Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man, Lethal Weapon, the Good the Bad and the Ugly.
Props for all the Auron love. He was my favorite character in X which is my second favorite FF. (II)
Yup, Square made a wrestling game, and I'm surprised no one mentioned Cecil or Kain for favorite characters.. Or Xenogears.
Good stuff though.
I wonder if he also thinks that the sad song "Coin of Fate" is more the "brothers" song, and "Edgar and Sabin's Theme" isn't really Sabin's theme, it's Edgars. Leaving the more energetic "Mount Koltz" to be the true theme for Sabin and his personality (also marking his appearance)?
