Seriously, why do they capitalize the word Super Bowl? I mean, if it's going to be a psuedo national holiday, then I at least want the following Monday off from work. And by the following Monday, I mean right now: today. Oh well, I guess I won't get to lay around all day and be lazy (much unlike my two roommates who both called in sick today - bastards), but at least I get they joy of sharing with you the brand new RFGO!, right?

Highlights!

  • Intro courtesy of Torzelan
  • Draaaaaaaaaaaainage!
  • Puppy Bowl is teh cuteness
  • Chess: Checkmate for suckage
  • But there was Rez, BEST WEEK EVAR!! :)
  • Questions begin
  • "32nd secret flavor"
  • Learn how to get un-friended by Topher
  • Yes, Chad's evil voice surfaces
  • Become the otter
  • What's a continue?

Woo-hoo! That was quite a few awesome highlights. I know they'll only make sense once you listen to the show, so you should go ahead and do that right here. And, by the way, we really weren't kidding about the Beats of Rage mod that we want for RFGO! So if you or anyone you know can mod the Beats of Rage game with all the cast members of the show -- and make it awesome -- that person will win each and every game that Reverend Anthony has ever covered in his "Games Time Forgot" articles.  That's well over fifty different games, folks. Get cracking!

(Last but not least, we forgot to mention it in the show, but Lord Sartorious needs to get a hold of us on the retro phone. It seems that he won a contest!)

So with all the questions you got, this episode is about... ten hours long? :)
Sharpless's Avatar
Sharpless at 02/04/2008 14:46
First of all, Super Bowl is two words. Second of all, it's a commercial event, so it should be capitalized. SIR, I REFUTE THEE.

Second... or third, if you count, I don't really pay attention to sports, but I'm considerably annoyed that New York won. New York teams should never win anything, unless they're the Yankees. That said, I played Ingenious and Bible Scattegories during the Super Bowl. Board gameage FTW! (And seriously, the Bible version of Scattergories is sheer amazingness. It's been a while since I've been so entertained by a board game type thing.)

Didn't I write it as two words, twice? Besides, there really isn't anything wrong with the event, it's just that I never watch sports.

The show is almost two hours in length. Sorry, I'll try to bring back the days of the 4 minute RFGO! in the future.

I didn't think you'd pick totally wrong consoles! Should have rephrased my question v.v

Also, Collette and Chad win my heart for Chrono Trigger and A Link to the Past. If DToid had a prom, I'd vote for you guys.

Schweet. I've been wanting to hear this famous evil laugh.

Also, I really like the idea of a user question only episode. Maybe you could do this maybe, like, every ten episodes or so?

And Dyson, don't you dare go back to the days of the four-minute RFGO! If I were your supreme overlord, they would be two hours MINIMUM. That's how much I love you.

Starship Titanic is absolutely hilarious. John Cleese is in it; he does the voice of a time bomb. You can't deactivate the bomb, so instead you have to keep talking to it until it loses count. If you bother it enough, it will start to sob and cry because you're keeping it from doing its job! I love it!

Super Bowl is actually a registered trademark of the NFL now. Notice that department stores don't have "Super Bowl" sales anymore, they're all about "getting ready for 'the big game.'"

Just in case Dyson was curious,

According to Wikipedia Reudx is Latin adjective meaning brought back. It is used now to denote a redone version of a film i.e. Apocalypse Now Redux, one of my favorite films.

Flotsam means goods floating in the water after a ship wreck.

Lucario is indeed a Pokemon but he is the only fictional word present on my list apart from Horcrux and Corneria.

Great show!

The chess game you were trying to figure out was Archon, and it was for the NES.

The "O'Dell Lake" game was actually called "O'Dell Down Under" and was installed on every mac in every computer ever and it was AWESOME.

I love RFGO.

Awww... I was going to try to make a BoR RFGO mod. It would've taken me months upon months and probably would've been passable at best, but I would've actually done it.

Now someone is going to bang something out in a weekend that'll be infinitely more awesome than anything I could throw together. :(

...

Meh, I'll still give it a go. I suppose at least I could use this as some motivation to get on it as opposed to just conceptualizing it. :)

We finally get to hear Chad's evil laugh though? Nice! ^_^

Super show! The all question format was a lot of fun to listen to. One of you should definitely not download a nega-rom of un-terranigma. It's sort of like a faster Illusion of Gaia/Secret of Mana with a crazy overworld map. Ranks up there as one of my favorite Super Nintendo games.

Hearing you guys talk about PAX got me totally amped. This'll be my first year going and August can't get here soon enough! XD

Today's Assignment... you must 'not' download Terranigma, then 'not' play it. Trust me, it's one of the greatest games ever.

According to the almighty Wikipedia, the game was never released in America as Enix no longer had an Amercan subsidary.

Also, great show!
ScottyG's Avatar
ScottyG at 02/04/2008 21:03
Like everyone else said, Terranigma is totally worth procuring one way or another. It's an action RPG like Secret of Mana where you literally rebuild the entire world and shape humanity's development.

The ending ranks up there as one of my all time favourites, and is a lot more emotional than FF7 could ever hope to be. I want to say why, but you need to see it for yourselves.

Colette, Topher and I have shared enough face bites at last year's PAX to last me a lifetime, or at least until this year's PAX. So no, no need for sex. A handjob, however...

Topher, if you say "PIKACHU GET YOUR RETARDED POKEMON ASS OVER HERE!!!" then it works

I shook that Pikachu e-pet =)

I found evil Chad to be kind of underwhelming, i guess kind of how I found Bioshock underwhelming. Too much hype

It's not the games I'm complaining about Rev, it's the consoles them selves, too many SKUs (PS3/360), breakage(360), and severe under powerage(Wii)

Dyson... you want play co-op Contra 4 with me?
I'm pretty good

I still have this Pikachu-tamagotchi thingy. Not the original yellow one but the second version with an infrared connector. And of course, all I did was shaking this little piece of plastic all the time.

Too bad that Hey you, Pikachu didn't make it to Europe. I always wanted to play this game in a language I understand. Okay, I played the japanese version several times before and it worked fine. But it isn't as fun if you always have to ask your friend "what's *insert word here* in Japanese?".

Ha! I can't believe you actually played Starship Titanic! I've actually got a poster for that game up in my apartment. Douglas Adams did a tour with Terry Jones (of Monty Python fame) to promote the book of the game that Jones had written. He was also the voice of the parrot in the game.

What this means is that I not only met a living member of Monty Python, but I also got to meet Douglas Adams. What a great day that was.

Are Nintendo's Zappers so hard to find that you're still kicking yourself over cutting up your own back in the day? Recently I went on Craigslist and a dude was giving away a bunch of old peripherals and stuff for "whatever anyone would give him"-- it included first-party SNES controllers, which is why I ended up meeting ihm and giving him $20 for the lot (which he almost turned down because it was "too much").

Turned out he was giving me:
- NES Zapper (the GREY one)
- Two amazing condition first-party SNES controllers
- A Game Boy, Game Boy case, GB magnifier + light, GB speaker system, GB link cable
- Some random cables

I don't even have an NES. But I have a totally awesome gun toy, now.
