RetroforceGO!: Episode 16: The fine art of importing photo
     Import Spotlight

So here we are back again for another Monday episode of RetroforceGO!, Destructoid's number one retro podcast. (And we're gunning for the number one spot on the site, too. So watch your back Linde ... /maniacal laughter!)  Sadly, our ambassador from Chadlantis couldn't be with us this episode to discuss the import gaming market, but I think that the special guest we have tonight will more than make up for it.

Highlights!

  •  Happy birthday Chizzo!
  • Niero joins us in his bucket
  • 400 Microsoft points equals 1.5 RED DRANK
  • (Hey Dyson, it's episode 16!)
  • Awesome ... Awesome ... China Warrior
  • Punk rock is like gaming?
  • Victor Ireland is a god amongst men
  • Crazy contest announcement

So sit back and relax, turn on your iTunes, and let RFGO! take you away to the wonderful world of dolphin love (or retro games, same difference). Check us out on our podcast page which, I believe, is located right here, and enjoy!

I know no one will actually believe me unless they've tried it themselves, but importing the REZ trance vibrator from Japan adds so much (non-sexually) to the game. The trance vibrator moves to a different rhythm than the controller. There are objects that pulse in the background that the trance vibrator will shake along to. For a game that sells itself on synesthesia, this new level of immersiveness completes the game package. It's okay if you doubt me, but I'm a dude, and my parts simply don't work in that way. The trance vibrator gives you the true REZ experience.

@Mabec
Colette knows alot about Videogames.

You know our love was meant to be
The kind of love that lasts forever
And I need you here with me
From tonight until the end of time
You should know, everywhere I go
You're always on my mind, in my heart
In my soul
CHORUS:
You're the meaning in my life
You're the inspiration
You bring felling to my life
You're the inspiration
Wanna have you near me
I wanna have you hear me sayin'
No one needs you more that I need you
And i know, yes I know that it's plain to see
We're so in love when we're together
And i know that I need you here with me
From tonight until the end of time
You should know, everywhere I go
Always on my mind, in my heart in my soul
CHORUS

Sweet, My question got asked on-air. Sorry to be so ambiguous with the wording of it. Seriously though the release of a fully completed NES cart is pretty epic. Nintendo is usually very secretive of their inner workings.

One of the issues you guys only briefly touched on with the Lik-Sang mention is Europeans importing North American versions of games, which in many ways is a whole different ball game. They seem to get shafted too often on titles that need extensive translation because they need to make one version of a game with six different languages included, so often the effort just isn't made. Everybody who can read/speak English (and probably many who can't) then imports the US release.

And then there are the massive delays to localize and convert the game to PAL. Games that take six months to a year (or more) to come out in Europe, dragging out the uncertainty. Gamers in PAL regions are often better off just buying a US console and getting a transformer.

Anyone who followed the saga of Animal Crossing's journey to PAL land will sympathize with PAL gamers. I know I did.

@ANC: We certainly believe that Europe gets the shaft on almost all things video game related, so the loss of Lik-sang is even more tragic.

@nilcam: AWESOMSAUCE!

@ Moo: Nintendo is a mystery, wrapped in an enigma, wrapped in a Rubik's Cube that has no colors. Who knows why they do the things they do.
