Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
“From jumping over barrels all they way to abusing small dinosaurs and beyond”...the “they” should be a “the”, should it not?
Well anyway, RFGO gang, I was wondering what your favorite pickup was in the Mario games through Super Mario Bros. 3. POW block, mushroom, fire flower, star, Raccoon Mario leaf, etc. Thoughts?
That's all I ask after last week's RetroforceGO! 23: The silencing edition.
I prefer the NES version of SMB2 because it doesn't have every character yelling things at you every time you do something. THANK YOU! LUCKY! OH, A CRYSTAL!
Also don't forget Mario is Missing =O.

Also: Wern't you a bit disappointed when you got through star road in Super Mario World, then beat all the really tricky levels with names like rad and fantastic just to get a main map colour switch and pumpkin koopa troopers? It was the very worst day
Back in 6th grade a kid from Japan moved to my area, and we quickly became friends. He had a Famicom, so he couldn't play any US games, and was getting sick of the games he had. So he proposed a trade- my NES for his Famicom for a month, or until he saved up enough to get his own NES. I remember getting the new issue of Nintendo Power the day he came over for the trade, and the big story of the issue was a 2 page early preview of SMB3, which wouldn't be out for 6-8 months. You could imagine how floored I was when he brought over the Famicom complete with SMB3! I had kids over my house constantly for over a month because they all couldn't believe it. I all of a sudden met friends I never knew I had.
There were a bunch of other games I got to play way before their US release thanks to the Famicom, one of them being the legendary River City Ransom.
That trade may be why I became an import fiend during the 16-bit era and beyond.
Can't wait to here the show!
2. Make up a power-up right now.
3. Peach or Daisy?
for instance
I remember when my parents got me Mario Teaches Typing, back when I was in 1st grade. I still have nightmares to this day.
Have there been any, non-nintendo developed, Mario games outside of the Party and various Mario sports series that have been any good
?
WHY THE FUCK ARE RETRO GAMES SO HARD?
I just installed an emulator on my Q and downloaded a bunch of games
it's awesome though, skate or die has to be my favorite, I'm starting castevania
Also contra
But I need an RPG, what would you guys recommend as an RPG for the NES?
His mushroom and flower diet?
OH SNAP!
Also: any discussion of how bad the mario brothers movie was should be balanced with just as long a discussion of how good the episode of the super mario brothers super show where mario and luigi had to get hercules back in shape was.
Not that you guys are hurting for ideas or anything, but I think you ought to have an old-school RPG talk one of these weeks. I'd love to hear a conversation about Earthbound and Super Mario RPG. Also, I guess there's that little game with the fantasy and the final or whatever.
YES! RetroforceGO! should do an old-school(and new) RPG week. Final Fantasy, Super Mario RPG(and the other Mario RPGs), Earthbound, Lufia, Breath of Fire, etc.
