ZEROTH!

“From jumping over barrels all they way to abusing small dinosaurs and beyond”...the “they” should be a “the”, should it not?

Dang it, you two beat me to it.

Well anyway, RFGO gang, I was wondering what your favorite pickup was in the Mario games through Super Mario Bros. 3. POW block, mushroom, fire flower, star, Raccoon Mario leaf, etc. Thoughts?

Could you please talk for between 60 and 90 minutes about the virtual console releases, XBLA releases, and the Mario games. Also, please let Rev. Anthony rant, and have a contest.

That's all I ask after last week's RetroforceGO! 23: The silencing edition.

How about some lovin' for the Gameboy games? Super Mario Land, Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins, and Wario Land. I played the hell out of those games. I'll always remember time I completed SML twice in a row to get level select, and then realising it was pretty pointless as the game had no ability to save - as soon as you switched the Gameboy off, back to square one for you!

Here's my question: Do y'all prefer the original NES games or the Mario All Stars/Mario Advance versions?

I prefer the NES version of SMB2 because it doesn't have every character yelling things at you every time you do something. THANK YOU! LUCKY! OH, A CRYSTAL!

I don't think any of the 3D Marios come any where near the 2D ones for pure gaming genius. You just can't judge those jumps into the screen accurately enough for it to work properly.

What was your favourite mario 3 world? For me it was sky world. I know giant world was amazing, but sky world had tanooki suits, and that secret giant question mark (best thing ever!) and also hitting that goomba out of that shoe and then yourselfjumping around in the shoe. Also that cool castle made out of blocks.

Also: Wern't you a bit disappointed when you got through star road in Super Mario World, then beat all the really tricky levels with names like rad and fantastic just to get a main map colour switch and pumpkin koopa troopers? It was the very worst day

Do you think that there is a chance of seeing new a 2-D Mario show up on the Wii, either as a retail release or Wii ware download?

I had a very unique experience with Super Mario 3.

Back in 6th grade a kid from Japan moved to my area, and we quickly became friends. He had a Famicom, so he couldn't play any US games, and was getting sick of the games he had. So he proposed a trade- my NES for his Famicom for a month, or until he saved up enough to get his own NES. I remember getting the new issue of Nintendo Power the day he came over for the trade, and the big story of the issue was a 2 page early preview of SMB3, which wouldn't be out for 6-8 months. You could imagine how floored I was when he brought over the Famicom complete with SMB3! I had kids over my house constantly for over a month because they all couldn't believe it. I all of a sudden met friends I never knew I had.

There were a bunch of other games I got to play way before their US release thanks to the Famicom, one of them being the legendary River City Ransom.

That trade may be why I became an import fiend during the 16-bit era and beyond.

Can't wait to here the show!

Could you please set some people straight on the origins of SMB2? How about how it was originally made as a totally different game in Japan but in order to localize it to America, they slapped on the Mario Brothers and changed a few things here and there. Yeah it was Miyamoto's game, but it was at first called Yume Koujou: Doki Doki Panic. Please say something about this, cause it drives me nuts like how Germany wants to just ignore that whole holocaust thing.

How do you feel about the graphical improvements between Mario 3 and Mario 3 on Mario Allstars? Also, do you think Nintendo will screw us all by releasing Mario Allstars on the Wii VC since they've now released all other classic mario games independentally.

I think Nintendo should make a game that follows the same style and premise as Super Mario World for SNES. That is my favorite Mario Game. Capes, Fortress', Castles, Ghost Houses... Everything we love... but MORE. I always crave more Super Mario World levels when I play that game. What do you think? Could it happen or should I just keep dreaming?

What's up with the "Mario is a communist" thing? I mean, the signs are there, like the red clothes and mario trying to overthrow the king (Bowser). Also he raises a little communist star flag when he hakes over a castle.

1. Which power-up would you have for life?

2. Make up a power-up right now.

3. Peach or Daisy?

Hey what are your all's thoughts on some of the lesser discussed mario games?

for instance

I remember when my parents got me Mario Teaches Typing, back when I was in 1st grade. I still have nightmares to this day.

Have there been any, non-nintendo developed, Mario games outside of the Party and various Mario sports series that have been any good
?

How has Mario some how been able to stay _exactly the same_ in the twenty-plus years he's been a mascot for Nintendo? For example, Link, hero of The Legend of Zelda, has gone from a little dude to a young adult in recent games. Even Sonic has grown taller it seems compared to the Genesis incarnations. Yet Mario is basically the same character. How has he managed to stay so fit?

You could add that. But it wouldn't mean anything. Not now that we've all been burned.

Also: any discussion of how bad the mario brothers movie was should be balanced with just as long a discussion of how good the episode of the super mario brothers super show where mario and luigi had to get hercules back in shape was.

Naturally, you guys can't talk about 2D Mario games without talking about The Wizard. Question: just how bad is the Power Glove?

Not that you guys are hurting for ideas or anything, but I think you ought to have an old-school RPG talk one of these weeks. I'd love to hear a conversation about Earthbound and Super Mario RPG. Also, I guess there's that little game with the fantasy and the final or whatever.

YES! RetroforceGO! should do an old-school(and new) RPG week. Final Fantasy, Super Mario RPG(and the other Mario RPGs), Earthbound, Lufia, Breath of Fire, etc.
