I think it is not going to be a success and not for Sega's fault but for the fans. Plus, another thing. What about Mario Galaxy ? It's fuckin mario in SPACE with tons of new elements which completely changed the gameplay. And why when Sonic tries to implement new elements people bitch about it ?
The old Sonic design is so much better, idk why they don't just return to it completely. I haven't enjoyed a Sonic game since Sonic & Knuckles, so I'm really hoping Sega actually makes a good one. I really doubt that'll happen though.
If this has a similar engine to Colors/Unleashed, I'll check it out. Sonic 4 shows that they've got a LONG way to go on the 2D engine, but the recent 3D games have been fun.

Can't say I'm all that excited. I mean sure I enjoyed Colors, but if the rumors about this game being noting but a bunch of rehash stages are true than I'll skip it in a heartbeat.

No nostalgia here (I played my first Sonic game on my GameCube and I'm not a fan by any means), but retro Sonic looks WAY better than current Sonic.
I was about to say, Scrappy Doo actually got actually about something. He had to post a second time to make up for it.
So, to show that he's returning to his roots, his character design reverts from manga/anime style to the Warner Bothers Animation/Disney animation style that influenced it yet didn't go all the way back to sprite-based animation. It's a way to go,I suppose. It won't matter any if the gameplay doesn't follow suit with a mix of the best of the old style and the new style.
Besides, if I cared about any character getting a redesign, it would be Rouge the Bat. If they made her short with a pot-belly (essentially a female Bat-Mite), then I'd be upset.
