We've had our eye on the games within a game DS title Retro Game Challenge for awhile now. These one-offs look, sound, and play a lot like our favorite titles from the 1980s. We gave an early version a try back at E3 and really dug it. Now we're nearing the February 2009 release date, and the official Web site has launched.
Retro Game Challenge's Web site has the full details on what you can expect in the game. Click the "game" tab to get full descriptions on many of the included titles. Robot Ninja Haggleman is a great name for an 8-bit title. It also gives details and images on Guadia Quest, the included full-blown role-playing title, seemingly modeled after the early Dragon Quest games.
Check it out, along with the new trailer above. There's also some wallpaper available for download there, though we will say that it's a little ugly... in a retro way. (sorry, XSEED)

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
read the plot summary on the site, it's incredible! aside from being a collection of completely original 8-bit games, it's sort of a history lesson on 80's gaming. this is something that every little 14 year old prick on Xbox Live should be REQUIRED to play before booting up another game of Gears or Halo.
Seems kinda cool at any rate, if I can find my DS I'd consider tracking down a copy.
I... I think I'm excited about this game.
