Retro Game Challenge 2 not coming to US shores photo

In a recent interview with RPGamer, XSEED's Ken Berry chatted about Little King's Story, Arc Rise Fantasia and other projects. Game Center CX 2 came up, better known as Retro Game Challenge 2 to us here in the US, but unfortunately news of its localization was not so good:

"We're getting by, but not doing as well as we'd like. Retro Game Challenge started off well but still hasn't gotten to the point where we can justify bringing over the sequel. It's amazing how many people write to thank us for publishing that game, so perhaps as those enthusiast fans continue to spread the word we will get to where we need to be eventually."

Man. I begged everyone I knew to buy Retro Game Challenge, not only because it's one of the best games I've ever played for the DS, but also because XSEED told us its performance would affect whether Fragile would come out here or not. It never did, so I guess the numbers didn't make it where they should have. I'm disappointed to say the least, but I guess I should be happy the first Retro Game Challenge got a US release at all. Keep taking chances, XSEED!

Since XSeed already dropped Muramasa, I don't see them ever bringing Fragile over to the US.

I just bought Little King's Story since it came out in Europe recently, and I can tell you that it is something quite special, I really like it so far :).

That's terrible news, the sequel looked even better and more varied than the first.

wow, sadness. The first RGC is SO good man,I just assumed that it sold relatively well. I never expected that the sequel wouldn't get a NA release,*sniffle*.as far as I'm concerned, anyone who has a DS and is of age to fondly remember "the good old days" but didn't buy it can kiss my fluffy caucasian ass. and if you pirated it I hope you die in a fire while getting gang raped by 666 demon cocks, fucks like you are why we can't have anything nice! godammit man...

huh. that's too bad, I'm just trying to beat the jrpg in there. I was thinking that the sequel would have been a massive improvement on an already good game. The experiences on there are pretty good, for the most part.

I recently imported Retro Game Challenge from Play-asia (the english version of course. the game hasn't been released here in Yurup.) and beat it yesterday. I was sooo looking forward to the sequel!!!

I'll try to keep my hopes up... somehow.

Dammit! That's sad news. I loved Retro Game Challenge. Maybe Atlus or Ignition could secure it, or hey Namco Bandai since it was their game.

If not, those ROM hackers better get cracking on a fan translation.

Man, this really sucks. This is my favorite game that I own on the DS easily. It was literally a perfect game for me and my retro ways. It felt like old school NES days. What a bunch of bull. It completely got me into both the Gamecenter CX show and XSEED. I got 2 people to buy it besides me. Smackifilia did his part.

I meant to go buy this way back when it came out and now I feel really bad that I didn't. I'll be sure to order a brand new copy from amazon as soon as I get paid on wednesday.

I have a feeling that they didn't "drop" Muramasa. But yeah, RGC was an awesome game with some awesome music. Sucks that RGC2 won't happen.

Even though I don't own a DS (yet) and have only played this at my friends house, its still sad news. This game along side Henry Hatsworth are going to be my first purchases for my DS when I get it.
Arrrghh...... noone it seems takes chances on games that don't have a number after the title of the game.

@InfraredChimera: unfortunately,it's not really a matter of publishers not wanting to take chances at it were,it's that when they do a lot of ppl apparently don't put the effort into finding out about them and/or they aren't marketed effectively.they gotta be profitable or it's moot how great the game is or how vocal it's fans are.or maybe we're all just wrong at the game actually sucks,as there have only been 28 comments posted(3 of which are mine, and I'm a newb)and the article's been up most of the day, there doesn't seem to be much of an outpouring of support for this game from the community :(

This is the worst news I've read all day! Gamecenter CX is such a good show that I'm surprised it's not gotten more press around here, or anywhere really.

@Chronic Logic.

No, it's more like the game and watch games in a sense. It has a cavalcade of retro style games that ooze nostalgia. Shmups, platforming and racing games are the main ones I've come across, most of each havign at least one sequel on the cart you'll play later on.

I bought my copy. It's a shame that we aren't getting a second one.
