Retro City Rampage. October 9, 2012. PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, PC. You read that correctly.
Brian Provinciano's NES-style Grand Theft Auto parody has been cooking for just over a decade, and when it missed its proposed May release earlier this year, it felt like development would continue forever. But with a launch date set for next Tuesday, there's no way RCR will get the bump again... right?
The game costs $14.99. Should you buy it over PSN, you'll receive copies for both PS3 and Vita. It'll also be available over Steam and GOG.com, or you could buy the DRM-free version through the game's homepage and receive a free download code from either Steam and GOG.com as a bonus. This only applies to the US release; Europe will have to wait until later in October.
But what of the WiiWare and XBLA versions? Brian says that WiiWare should be getting its fix shortly following PSN, while XBLA will get its due once a release slot is finalized. Excited yet?
Last Friday we shared the details of an awesome GOG.com contest where you could win one of 41 games just by identifying five pieces of videogame music. Here are the answers!
I've received word from GOG that they've already begun sending out codes. Were you able to name each of the five songs? Let us know in the comments if you were one of the lucky winners! (And which game you chose!)
[Update: Contest over! Here's the link to the answers; were you one of the lucky winners?]

Anodyne is a cool little top-down dungeon crawler with an obvious problem: it isn’t Zelda.
Though I would normally feel like a jerk criticizing a small indie title for not stacking up to Nintendo’s legendary series, the game itself forces the comparison, lifting not just the basic gameplay elements of the classic 2D Zelda games, but also various art cues and enemy designs. Along with cutting Brutal Legend to half price and taking 75% off the price of Defense Grid: The Awakening, Steam has a weekend promotion running on games from Rockstar. Each day will see a new franchise reduced, so right now... If you haven't played Portal 2 on PC, then you have no excuse -- none I tell you -- not to pick it up with a 75% price cut on Steam. Also on offer is Worms Revolution, which is free to play all weekend and half price to purch... Polytron is bringing Gomez and his digital adventures to PC in the near future, and it's offering some savings for people that are willing to plunk down the cash a bit early.

After following Abbey Games' promising Reus for a while now, it's great to hear that the 2D god game has secured a not-too-distant release date and a fair few launch platforms.
