Retailers: StarCraft II releasing December 3 photo

Since the announcement of StarCraft II last year, Blizzard has been carefully stringing us along with trailers, concept art, and small snippets of information on their upcoming real-time strategy game. In true Blizzard fashion, though, they’ve remained tight-lipped about a possible release date, sticking to their mantra of “It’ll be done when it’s done.”

Blizzard might not be talking, but it seems that retailers don’t have any trouble giving us a date to look forward to. Best Buy, Circuit City, and GameStop have all given StarCraft II a street date of December 3.

Retailers giving games placeholder dates is certainly nothing new, but as Aaron “I’ll only be remembered for the monkey thing” Linde points out, the fact that all three major chains are putting up the same date a week before Blizzard’s 2008 Worldwide Invitational does seem rather suspicious. We'll be sure to keep you briefed on any announcements Blizzard makes during the event.

Are you salivating over the thought of getting Zerg rushed this Christmas?

[Thanks, Adam!]

When it comes, it comes. I have a feeling we'll be looking at one of the best RTS games of all time, and one of the most long over due sequels.

I don't know why I'm not looking forward to this.

I wasn't floored by Warcraft 3 although I thought it was a good game. Blizzard isn't going to reinvent the wheel here. SC2 will at least be a good game and at most be as good as the original.

FOR IORN!!!!!!!

I guess I should hold off on getting the full pc I want now and wait a bit longer till like november, that way BRD burner price might come down as well as all the other PC parts.

Internal HDD has been increasing in size and dropping in price like crazy.

Yeah Crunshii, I'm doing the same, I've been holding off all year to upgrade my PC waiting for Starcraft 2.

Blizzard doesn't put out release dates because they can't keep them. ever remember how many times the first wow expansion, hell, even wow itself got delayed? I'd take this December third release date with 6 metric tons of salt, since t's a Blizard product. Not saying it's a bad thing, Blizz's games are usually the most polished and they dominate whatveer genre they decide to try out, but good things take time. hence, the impossibility of such an early release date.

Either way: OMFG STARCRAFT 2 I CANT WAIT AAHHHHHH *Head asplode*

How late was the first Starcraft? Like 18 months? I remember the first time I heard it was coming out.. and then it was some time before it actually did.

I will be picking this one up for sure! I am in no way an RTS fan, mostly because I'm absolutely terrible at the genre, but StarCraft can make anyone a fan!
