Retailers listing Fallout: New Vegas as a June release photo

If retailer listings have it right, we could be eviscerating mutant skulls in New Vegas as early as this June. The official GameStop Web site and Play-Asia have Obsidian’s take on Bethesda’s Fallout universe listed as a summer release. June, to be specific.

Early listings are early, so take this with a grain of salt. We’re not too convinced that this is more than guesswork on both company’s parts -- two companies who are no doubt eager to store pre-order dollars in a big ass bank account in order to collect interest from potential purchasers. We’re in the process of contacting Bethesda about this, and we’ll be sure let you know when we know anything about a release date.

So I have to carry this Fallout-induced boner around until June? Be ready for quite a load when I finally bring you home, New Vegas. Mhmmm.

It's actually been listed on GameStop.com for quite some time now as a June release, it's doubtful that it'll make that release date though.

Bethesda stay pretty quiet until near release usually, and they do like to be out well before the full holiday swing, so this could be at least near-true.

Still, knowing the developer Obsidian, I wouldn't expect the game to be on time, let alone early.

This would get me excited if I'd seen some screenshots or heard some information about it, but at the moment, I really am not bothered about it at all.

"Obsidian’s take on Bethesda’s Fallout"

Actually, that's more like "Obsidian's take on Bethesda's take on Obsidian's Fallout universe" considering most of Obsidian used be Black Isle :D.

Looking forard to this. I know it's early but if i enjoy it as much as Fallout 3, I hope to see post release DLC like Broken Steel and Point Lookout; no of that operation anchorage crap.

Fallout is one of those few games where I felt I got more than my moneys worth. Not many single player games have the ability to keep pulling me in like this one.

Hope the New Vegas CE they can top the Lunchbox edition

@D-Nez: I must say I enjoyed Anchorage - of course it was linear and repetitive but the loot was insane and it was great for leveling up my new character post-Broken Steel.

I really could have done without Mothership Zeta though. They should have released it before Point Lookout. I was expecting the last DLC to be speacial and MZ really wasn't.

Can that please not happen? Some people at Obsidian haven't had their hands on Fallout since Fallout was still great. They deserve more time to do it right.

June is too random nand too soon (when is E3 again?). That definitely sounds like placeholder date.

Still no screen shots?

or word if the art style will improve?

or if it will it be 1080p?

Enjoyed the 120 hours of play. But could not deal with to looking at those same buttery glare / Vaseline lens graphics again.

So I couldn't deal with the DLC stuff either. Then Zeta reportedly improved the graphics - but was the worst playing of the bunch?

I guess I am spoiled and need better detail to draw me into looking at such a desolate world for another extended period of time.

Like the source engine which really seems played out in HL2 E2, I am just tired of the look of the engine Fallout 3 used. Even more so now that I have witnessed with dumbstruck awe the majesty that is Uncharted 2.

I highly doubt they have improved it. This vexes me. I am greatly vexed.

These are New Vegas screens I found.

It looks like it will be identical art style as FO3?
