Resume links the next Hitman game to Batman developer photo

Mark Sloan has short-to-medium length brown hair and blue eyes. He’s an actor with experience in modeling as well as commercials and is interested in obtaining work in those two areas -- among others -- again.  In 2006 Sloan starred in a serial killer commercial.  In 2008 he did something relevant to our interests. According to his Casting Call resume, he did motion-capture work for Hitman5 … with Rocksteady Limited. Now that’s a new one.

Sloan’s Hitman entry suggests two things: Eidos’ space bar is broken and the UK-based studio responsible for Batman Arkham Asylum is working on the next installment of the Hitman franchise. While we agree with the former, we’re finding it tough to buy into the latter. It plain doesn’t jive with what we know and can still find.

Always an IO Interactive property, Hitman 5 -- or Hitman5 -- is still in their capable hands, even though they do seem a little busy nowadays. (Mini Ninjas and the next Kane and Lynch are on the way.) In May Eidos’ Ian Livingstone confirmed that the title is being developed by IO. A quick scan of a few LinkedIn profiles says that as of at least June, IO still had the property. Forget about the movie tie-in thing -- we’re pretty sure it’s still in-house.

So, what’s the deal? We’re guessing Rocksteady is helping IO Interactive with the motion-capture work. From what we understand, Rocksteady has some pretty rockin’, high-tech digs to use. And this connection makes sense -- Eidos is the publisher for the new Batman title and has always published the Hitman games.

Despite our reasoning, there’s always a chance that Rocksteady is indeed doing Hitman 5. We’ve fired off a few e-mails to important people and we’ll be sure to update if we receive comment about the matter.

Oh good. I was really disturbed for a second when I read that. IO better stay in charge of it. Say what you will about Kane and Lynch, but the Hitman series has always been a favorite of mine. I want me a Hitman game built for current consoles from the ground up. Also... co-op hits... MAKE IT SO.

New Hitman game would be great. But I'd like to see another Dev team take a stab at it. I've always found the series to be pretty sloppy.. then again, maybe I'm just no good at it.

OMG Finally some more news on a new hitman game just knowing its on its way makes me happy. I had previously heard that Hitman 5 was using the same graphics engine arkham asylum is using, so to hear that they are also utilizing rocksteady's mocap facilities makes sense. I'm hoping this could improve hitmans extremely outdated ragdoll physics engine. I'm just hoping we get another winter level those hits have always seemed to make hitman shine or contain a twist in the story at somepoint. What I wouldn't give for just a screenshot right now lol.

I loved how IO finally came close to giving us their ideal Hitman game with Blood Money. It was like all the hit and miss experimentation of the previous games finally paid off. I would have loved it if they just pushed the envelope wih a fifth game, but I'd be happy if they just gave Kane & Lynch 2 a complete overhaul. It was a good idea, but the gameplay just didn't fit the premise at all.

With Mini Ninjas coming and Kane & Lynch 2 confirmed, it might make sense that the developing duties for Hitman 5 were handed off and IO is only overseeing the project at a consulting level, like Bethesda with Fallout New Vegas.

Having played the amazing PC demo of Batman, I actually hope this is the case, honestly... no offense IO.

That was my favourite level, I know it off by heart now.

Hopefully it wont be too different than Blood Money.

Clearly pronounced Hitmans, not "Hitman 5" or "Hitman5". It's leetspeak... duh.

Blood Money was absolutely incredible. It and Hitman 2 are some of my favorite games!

All the series needs is a more organic feel and less of a Groundhog Day clock-work monotony. Assassin's Creed really should take a note from this game, since the first game (despite me loving it) desperately required some variety and depth to the actual assassinations.

As for the their technical side, I've always preferred Hitman games on the PC where the series started... but their controls and performance haven't been optimized remarkably well in Blood Money. I'm really hoping they can improve this with the next title.
