i found that demo to be not only extremely generic, but also really bad with all those missing animations, low res textures and overall uninspiring level design and pacing. it felt like a lot of ps2/xbox FPSs that flooded the market after this genre became popular on consoles thanks to games like Halo.
facepalm. it's hard not to mention Halo considering it is the father of all modern console shooters and the very first console shooter to perfectly nail controls, fell and multiplayer that was previously only on PC.
@Im The Singer in Symphony X,
is it that hard to face the fact that this game is another Resistance - the most generic series of shooters EVER made. especially given the fact that that demo looked like taken straight out of Resistance Retribution - mostly the second half which should be named "it's time to go to sleep" because it was so fuckin BORING and GENERIC.
probably because unlike you i fuckin played that game. besides few early levels it was basically 5 hours of boredom and rehashed ideas. the last several levels were so fuckin bad. first Act was fun and pretty damn awesome, second Act was only good with few really frustraiting moments. then you get into mech in Act 3 and it's downhill from there up to the one of the most retarded final bosses ever. there are games like Star Wars Force Unleashed when you start as overpowered bad ass, later to become weakling. final boss in Retribution is basically like that first level in Force Unleashed - no difficulty what-so-ever.
"is it that hard to face the fact that this game is another Resistance - the most generic series of shooters EVER made."
What is it that makes a first-person shooter generic, in your view?
The FPS genre itself is GENERIC. Anything Sofik says about something Sony-related is hilarious BS.
All I know for sure is that the Vita is at the top of my must-buy hardware list. Games like this and Uncharted and Gravity Daze make me want the system more than anything else coming out on the market in the foreseeable future, period. Sure, I want ME3 and Skyrim as much as the next guy, but games like these with new control schemes and gameplay elements are the types of things that pique my interest, as they provide new avenues for developers to flex their creativity.
They may be extensions of existing franchises, but they are going to feel so different (sometimes literally) from other entries they will be like all-new series, IMO. I can't wait. Now just get here to the States, Vita!
