Here it is, the GameTrailers TV exclusive world premiere trailer for Insomniac's Resistance 2. As with most teaser trailers, it doesn't give too much away, but it gives you a good idea of where Insomniac are going with the game. Huge environments, big battles, things exploding. You get the idea.
Those clamoring for actual gameplay footage are going to have to wait -- GameTrailers TV is promising a world premiere exclusive on June 13. That happens to land right on the final day of this year's E3 Business and Media Summit. Think that means we'll get our first hands-on of the game in just a few short months? We certainly hope so. GameTrailer TV's Jeremy Hoffman has decided to be a total jerk and call me out, reminding me that E3 is in July, not June. He's right. As always. Jerk. But we hope (and believe) we'll see more Resistance 2 at E3 in July.
What do you guys think of the trailer? Does it look as good as you expect, or even better?
Sorry, it's a GT exclusive. Did you get it to work? I'm using Firefox and it's working fine. Also, not excited? The game has like 8 person cooperative play! Do want now, thanks!
Didn't NihonTiger90 already show this in the Community Blogs? Like, a long time ago? Either Nick Chester is too lazy to find his own crap, or he's just a plain dickhead. Gameboi did the same thing to ReclusiveSpirit. What a bunch of assholes.
The Despised, a lot of the editors find information on their own or through various tips. They don't have the time to run through each community blog in search of info. I have posted many news blogs and have not complained once about me not getting credit for it. Please do not insult them.
I hope you're kidding. I can't be responsible for what is posted on the Cblogs, and it's not my job to read every single thing that appears in them. I don't "get news" from Cblogs, normally, for the record -- we have a tips line, we get information directly from PR companies, and I have an RSS feed list that would blow your mind.
To insinuate that any of the people who work hard daily to put content on the main page are either "assholes" or "too lazy to find [their] own crap" is insulting and narrow minded. You do realize that the front page and the Community Blogs, while part of the same community, are completely different things, right?
Thank you. The community is awesome, and post some great stuff all day long in the Cblogs. You've beaten us to the punch on stuff many times, and I'm sure you will in the future. Seriously, thanks again.
Good idea xper. You'd get along great with Hitler. Let's ban somebody who doesn't agree with us. Why don't you get your lips off of Chester's ass while you're at it. I'm just saying what I know a LOT of C-Bloggers are thinking.
the funny thing is, i played some of the original resistance, but didn't like it all that much. well, it was ok and could get really intense at some points, but it was never as compelling as gears. it seemed kind of bland to me.
somehow ratchet and clank and all the things i've been hearing about insomniac and r2 are making me want this game... and a ps3.
mgs4, killzone 2, littgle big planet, heavy rain, god of war 3, whatever team ico is doing, wipeout hd... suddenly it's all so tempting...
Odd. Maybe if hofftv hops back on he can figure out what's up. As for R2, I thought everyone would be pumped, but I didn't really rock Resistance: Fall of Man as hard as you might have. I wanted to ... I just didn't.
@ TheDespised:
No one is going to ban you for disagreeing with someone (or even necessarily being a jerk). But intentionally trying to start a problem is a different story. But you're not trying to do that, right?
for an original launch title its still being played today, how many are on perfect dark zero? that's a fncking comparison if any are, because we all know the answer.
"You'd get along great with Hitler. Let's ban somebody who doesn't agree with us. Why don't you get your lips off of Chester's ass while you're at it."
you do realize how contradicting that reads? you should have written "... why don't you get your lips deeper in Chester's ass while you're at it." see?
As for the trailer, this is starting to excite me more than Gears 2 at this point --- 8-player co-op, 60-player multiplayer, 50gb game... I really hope this game blows everything away. The first Gears was WAY better than the first Resistance in my opinion, but I see a change this time around...
Mr. Chester. If you cannot take some criticism than maybe you should try a different field of work. Perhaps you and your fanboys disagree with my arguments, but you walk a fine line when you start questioning a person's motives behind their commentary. Where do you draw the distinction from what is intent and what is honest communcation? Please oh wise, one speak down to me from above so I can hear thy righteous voice.
you can compare any game with any other when you talk about overall experience. i could compare mario galaxy with gears and say i had a more fun time and "compelling" experience playing galaxy than i had playing resistance. that doesn't mean they're the same type of game and "should be compared" or not.
when you start to break them down to their mechanics, can they be compared then? no, of course not. they're completely different games.
but yeah, maybe that was a bad comparison. hope i made my point, though: i did not like resistance that much.
its not about disagreeing to me, i just see some hostility in your words and would just like ya to stand back, look at it from someone elses perspective and question your motives. i don't care really but it would suck if anybody got kicked, we'd have to hear about in the next podtoid. not exactly a win~win situation if ya know what i mean. #1_in_the_hood_G!!
Uh... there's a difference between criticizing someone's work and just plain accusing others of something really stupid and false.
Anyway, to stay on topic, I played the demo of the first game and thought it felt really generic and bland. Not so sure about the sequel though. The multi-player is temping though. The trailer does look pretty epic, that's for sure.
You can criticize me all you'd like. I've never been one to jump to my own defense. Call me a terrible writer, tell me that I don't know anything about the gaming industry ... do your worst. But you said about one of the editors (forget about me, for a second): "What a bunch of assholes." For future reference, you might want to not pad your attempts at "honest communication" with name calling and conclusion jumping.
@TheDespised
You are a fucking asshole, dude. Seriously, you're the smug bastard here. Your criticism is bullshit, and Nick deserves better than that. The c-blogs and the front page are 100% seperate. Sometimes stories are found in the c-blogs and are then posted on the front page (and always with proper credit, where due) but, contrary to the rules of the little world in which you apparently live, not every editor has to scan through every single c-blog before they post, just to make sure that someone didn't get there first. Get your head out of your ass and stop trying to apply your rules to someone else's rulebook.
Of course, trolls like you will just disregard anything I, or any other like-minded commentator, says as being fanboyish dick-sucking. Yep. You keep on that high-horse, buddy.
Also, brainderailment, GT embeds work every single time, for me. (Except for this one, admittedly.) It's GameVideos embeds that suck ass and take a million years to load.
i played the first one when simply nothing else was out. it wasn't great, but had just the right mix of things to keep me playing.....then in july i finally got my machine online, online was just as good as offnline when its a new experience, so i had fun and occasional still do. i'm not great at it but its got every online component needed in all online/offline except custom soundtracks. so i know the next one will be excellent. 'nuff said.
It's true, Gears and Resistance are two very different games. I guess the reason why I'm compelled to compare them so often is because I played both of them for almost nothing but multiplayer, and I had a ton more fun with the first Gears.
But yes, I completely agree, they're different games with different styles.
I conceed to some of your points Mr. Chester. Perhaps the a-hole comment was a bit over the line. I was just attempting to stand up for "the little guy", if you will. Resistance 2? I'm really looking forward to it. Just from the pics and small snippets of video I have seen it looks like it is going to be a totally kick-ass game. A must have for my small PS3 library.
One other thing Mr. Chester before I exit. I know you don't appreciate your fellow editors being called names. Perhaps you could express that same sentiment to fanboys like Sharpless who have consistently done this very same thing when somebody "dares" to disagree with a member of the Destructoid staff.
ha ha addition. like vegas high stakes poker. i'm fncking hooked! alot of women play too, awesome, easy to play drunk, 6 way vid play, and fncking poker! i love it! beat shipero and jimbo and someone else(?) in a sit and go and had and absolute blast!
Sharpless beat me to the posting of Jim’s excellent blog on the whole c-bloggers news posting stuff.
As for the “teaser”, you could barely even call it that. I mean, really...we had what, like, twenty seconds of “footage”? The camera barely moved! That didn’t really pique my interest at all...let’s see what comes out between now and June 13th, if anything.
@TheDespised
Typical. Go for the fanboy angle, whenever someone agrees with the people you're harrassing. Real intelligent, dude. No, I'm not a fanboy. I am what is known as "not a total dick," and I defend people when I feel that they warrant defending. You were making ridiculous accusations and being a (somewhat) self-admitted dick, thus I said something against you. Anyone who is unbiased and pays a lick of attention to my comments will find it quite obvious that I do NOT always agree with the editors. I simply have a great deal of respect and appreciation for them and their work. They're good people. End of story.
@Samit
You know I mean business when I bother looking through pages of someone's c-blog for one bloody post.
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Sorry, it's a GT exclusive. Did you get it to work? I'm using Firefox and it's working fine. Also, not excited? The game has like 8 person cooperative play! Do want now, thanks!
did you get it to work? tell me what's happening and I will see if my tech guys can look at it.
@nick

Yup as if his account name wasn't a dead giveaway.

Insert that famous Three Musketeers phrase here:
Not sure what's happening with you not being able to watch the movies.
@ Nick
HAHA, I'm not that big of jerk. Don't make me tell them about your Facebook addiction.
@The Despised
The video only went up a few hours ago, not "a long time ago"
My addiction is a problem. It's not funny.

Unless someone wants to give me a PS3 for my birthday, then I guess I'll take this.
