Resistance 2 promises 420 hours of gameplay photo

FPS' these days aren't exactly known for massive, expansive gameplay. While there is plenty of longevity to be found in multiplayer, you will have seen everything that most shooters have to offer within eight hours. Not so with Resistance 2, if Insomniac is to be believed. The developer is boldly claiming that you'll need to put around 420 hours into this game to unlock everything.

If you're mad enough to want to unlock every level, find all the briefings and max out each class, then you will need to book some time off work, because Resistance 2 has a lot to be getting on with. Then there's the sixty-player online stuff and a more sensible eight-nine-hour campaign. With so much to be doing, PS3 owners aren't going to be getting a lot of sleep.

Resistance 2: There is a lot of it.

That kind of bold claim is a little off-putting. If it's true, it's going to drive me crazy as a completionist.

Maybe the "420" hours is a sly reference to the potheads who will be the only ones able to slog through that much single player campaign.

Yeah my friend will still beat it under all under 40-45 hours cause he has no life.

Tell me how long does it take to complete GTA games 100%?

They're probably just referring to pointless unlockable stuff that has to be achieved by playing through several times... just a guess though.

I agree with PL and darkair. Hell, if you got all the achievements in Gears of War, how long would that take? It's not as if the campaign itself is 420 hours long.

I guess Infinity Ward could have said that there was over 1000 hours of gameplay in CoD 4, because if you wanted to prestige ten times you'd probably invest that much time?

this may not be true but it won't change the fact that insomniac games kick ass
I mean three awesome games three years in a row for such a small developer!

I don't know what i would do if Resistance wasn't so !@#$ing hardcore. The entire marketing strategy of the game seems to be to do things MORE than everyone else.

Exactly like Professor Pew said.

Wtf is up with video game PR / Marketing as of late? They just love fibbing a bit TOO much about the longevity of the gameplay and replay value. Sure, I'm still getting it, but in NO WAY will I ever expect 420 hours of gameplay lol.

That's not 420 hours of gameplay. That's 10-15 hours of gameplay, with replay value for extreme completionists. That's a load of bollocks. Goddammit, hype.

Resistance 2 gold trophy: Play the game for 420 hours

wow, amazing how shit can get twisted so fast. to unlock everything it will take 420 hours, not actual gameplay. alot of grinding but i know people who have already put twice that amount of playing in the first one and just because it was a good game (and the only one at the time)

Besides some faq writer, do people actually unlock everything to these games? Why would I want to wander aimlessly look for 200 flags or boxes or whatever after I beat a game when I could be playing something else?

That's the dumbest shit I've ever heard. They actually put this in a press release?

Hay guyz, I heard with all the combinations of enemy positions, Gears of War actually has about 6 BILLION hours of content. Just when you think you've seen it all, BAM, an enemy is standing in a new spot you've never seen before.

I was on the beta and I have to say.... it looked beautiful but there was so many bullets flying EVERYWHERE and so many things blowing up it was nuts- I don't know that I would want to do that for 420 hours. My finance walked into the room when I was playing and was like, "how can you even tell what's going on?". The game is hardcore- I think maybe almost too hardcore for me. I think if it were more of a large battlefield type game it would have been awesome, but so many things were close quarters with waves of alien fire (and aliens) pounding at you in streams.I do have to repeat though- it looked gorgeous.

The game will probably have some sort of gears of war achievement where you have to kill tens of thousands of people online and that's gonna take you 420 hours.
