Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles is lookin' pretty photo
  share: Twitter Facebook Reddit Digg
filed under: #wii

So far, I have to admit that Resident Evil; The Darkside Chronicles is looking pretty darn appealing. Between the fact that's it's a follow up to Umbrella Chronicles and that it's on rails ... wait. Actually, the on rails part doesn't sound so good.I'm not really cool with on rails unless I'm playing House of the Dead.

Well, you know what, screw it. These new screens still look really pretty. And Leon and Claire and coming back, and that's ought to be interesting to say the least. As you all know, I'm a recent Resident Evil convert, but after how much I enjoyed Resident Evil 5, I'm going to be interested in anything new in the series that Capcom decides to put out. And yes, I plan to play through Resident Evil 4 very soon -- I know it's the best thing since God made cupcakes.

I don't really care for this type of game, but I'll definitely rent it because I'm an RE fan and because it features Leon Kennedy, star of my favorite game of all time, RE4.

Knowing your tastes in games (at least based on your blogs), if you liked RE5 you'll fucking love RE4. Go play that shit right now.

It's so worth the time.

mmmm Compression shorts + jean shorts = win. Claire from RE2 and Jill from RE3 outfits are so good.

Oh right Darkside Chronicles, this looks to be shaping up nicely. I do like anything that further explains the RE story even if it is on-rails.

@Colette
I would recommend that you play the Wii Version of Resident Evil 4. It has superior controls to the GCN and PS2 games, gets rid of button mashing events and has the extras from the PS2 version.

I'm really excited for Darkside Chronicles. Umbrella Chronicles was great and it looks like they're trying to embarrass that game with how good the sequel will be. You have to play these games with a friend...it's a blast.

I agree with Cadtalfryn, Umbrella Chronicles was great and the sequel is shaping up nicely. And yes, co-op is where it's at with this game. My girl and I were crushed when we found out the extra Wesker missions were 1-player only. To this day neither of us have gone back to do the single player missions.

I like on rails shooters. I got Umbrella Chronicles a while ago and while I only expected to play it a bit (and have fun) I managed to get about 20 hours of play.

Yeah I was surprised how much gameplay I got from UC. I think 17 hours for my multiplayer file and another 8 or so for my singleplayer.

I watched the trailer and E3 interview for Darkside Chronicles on the Wii's Nintendo Channel and it looked pretty hot.

Hmm, I had passed on Umbrella Chronicles, but if it was even half as good as this one seems to be looking, I may have to look back at that one as well, especially based on some of the above comments. I just remembered that the consensus, prior to UC's release, seemed to be that it was going to suck or some such, and it kind of fell entirely off of my radar.

I'm hyped. Resi 2 is my favourite in the series, it'll be fun to play through some parts of it again. I hope is has Code: Veronica content in it. That was the last Resi I loved. The newer games seem so mundane=\

@DaedHead8 yeah I can't belive they included single player only missions, what where they thinking?

You can unlock 2 player mode in those levels by playing through them though, which makes you wonder even more why they made them single player. I hope they don't pull that shit again.

I liked the first one but I woulda loved something that looked like that scept it used the RE4 engine, I wouldnt even care if it was as linear I just wanna feel cornered at one point in the game and have 3 shells left

to the writer:

I had never met anyone that had played the 5th RE BEFORE the 4th, you musta had an AWESOME experience.... if you plan on going back to playing RE5, DO NOT play RE4 on the wii, for me at least, it makes RE5 painstakingly unbearable I mean the running and the turning in re5 is so unnecessarily complicated that you'll wonder why they changed it at all... oh and you'll appreciate actual fear, mikami is a much better director than takeuchi and Ueda
