While many people were in awe that Nintendo's 3DS could actually produce 3D images without the use of glasses, gamers had something else to be excited about -- the games. Nintendo pulled its third-party line-up out of its pocket at its E3 press conference last week, including a number of titles and franchises from the heaviest hitters in the industry.
Among them was a new Resident Evil title, called (perhaps tentatively) Resident Evil Revelations. Not much is known about the game, but Capcom has already produced an impressive tease of a trailer, which you can now view on this here Internet.
You won't be able to see it in 3D, but I did, and have to admit that it was one of the worst demonstrations of the hardware among the bunch. As you can see in the trailer, the visuals are top notch; it's hard to tell if everything is running in real time, but the 3DS demo allowed me to zoom in and out. My issue with this particular demo is that with the 3D on, I was seeing double in parts of the image. It's unclear if it was the hardware or the demo itself; I didn't have this issue with any other demo or trailer I was shown.
Still, tech issues with early hardware and software aside, Revelations is likely on top of every gamer's "day one" 3DS title lists. As Jonathan Holmes puts it, "Puking zombies are back. Hooray!"
No actually gameplay footage yet. Sigh!
I asked about the PSP game a few months back and was given some shifty eyes. What I'm trying to say is, I have no idea what happened to it. Perhaps it's suffered the same fate as the PSP version of Devil May Cry?
Thanks for chiming in. Sounds like vaporware to me then.
Capcom has an unusual relationship with the PSP. They love it for Monster Hunter, but other than that, its pretty much just collections of 8 & 16-bit arcade era arcade games and remakes from them. They seem to have an institutional weariness of putting original content on it besides aforementioned Monster Hunter.
You asked Capcom about it a few months back? I guess the logical question then, which I'm sure will never be answered by Capcom or Nintendo, is when did Capcom receive their 3DS dev kits?
A person would have to be quite cynical to suggest that Capcom would kill a publicly announced PSP project in the interest porting it up to the 3DS, thus possibly also explaining the shoddy nature of the 3D demo. They'd never cut support for PSP to get a highly visible IP on the launch wave of Nintendo's hot new handheld, sure to sell millions of units, with the benefit of hardware that isn't cracked yet.
I am that cynical. Oh well. PSP's loss is 3DS's gain.
Definitely the most impressive-looking demonstration I saw there. DJ Hero 3D being a close second.
Also, do want this game.
He's done video game work before, but I thought his voice was lighter than that.
guessing at the plot: New zombie virus that makes pod people?
Resident Evil sucks. Played RE:DC back in the day (it was my first christmas with my PSONE). Tried many times to play 2, 3, 4, 5, and Biohazard DC that I got for nostalgia's sake from the JPSN store. I've come to the conclusion the series sucks no matter how many people absolutely, gushingly love it.
Troll harder bro.
@matrixdude171
I'm pretty sure the reason she was blond in 5 was due to the spider-gem-mind-control-bullshit-thing.
Lemme guess, you're one of those guys who plays nothing but COD and Halo/Killzone/Conduit? RE wasn't meant for philistines like you. It was meant for people who like scares.
...actually, I really don't know who RE5 was meant for, cuz it's not even scary.
Anyway, go troll somewhere else plz.
